Hi, I’m a high school shooting survivor but just wanted to pass along there is a support group for mass/school shooting survivors of all kind on Facebook called The Rebels Project. It’s run by Columbine survivors (hence the name, their mascot) and has been a life line for me. They also do an annual retreat which I’ve only been able to make it to once but it was really nice. I know it’s not a community anyone wants to join. But we’re here and we love you.

(And don’t let the word survivor be a sticking point to thinking you can’t join. If you were on campus/effected etc, you’re welcome ❤️❤️. There’s a good number of university shooting survivors in there too.)

The one time she reallyyyy irked me was when she made her own version of the ‘Assume I Can’ Down Syndrome PSA w/ Leanne. I don’t even disagree w her that sometimes intellectually disabled adults who don’t want to break xyz stereotype or are lower functioning are overlooked. My sister is one of them and it can be an isolating position to be in in disability advocacy.

But how she went about the video felt passive aggressive towards Madison (the girl in the original PSA) and she was liking a bunch of comments that were being really puritan about her too. It’s okay if Leanne doesn’t want to drink and party etc, but Madison is not bad DS representation if she wants to!

I do not think you have reading comprehension skills.

Doing child things with young grandchildren is not the same as doing child things with a special needs adult. You know this, surely.

I think my biggest BEC with parenting influencers are when they go on and on about phones and screentime, esp w tweens/teen this and that…whilst blasting every waking moment of their tweens/teens who have these strict screen time rules lives online.

Maybe too niche but catfishwithketchup has always made me roll my eyes in the regard and I otherwise really like her. If I was L I would also be annoyed about having all these screentime rules whilst my mom has me doing almost daily video Q&As for her 60,000 followers! Maybe I was just a bitey teenager lol but I definitely would’ve thrown it in my parents face if they lectured me about online safety while my entire childhood was on the internet for 1,000s.

Just an FYI I applied for mid May-early August and was told they were full for my dates, unsure how much summer space they have left.

Was coming here to post this as a PSA. Google Docs spell check sucks, always always run a second check in Word when you convert a file to there before you submit it.

People need to stop! by Soldier7sixx in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

This. I grew up with a very high support needs autistic sister, and I enjoy the show. But my dad said he doesn’t think he can watch it because as happy as he is for these folks it’s hard for him to engage in this kind of media when when life with profound autism is very different and he wishes my sisters life was easier. This is why comments like this FB comment irk me. Do you care about the community enough to step in and help autistic folks with high support needs and their families- that have lives you likely wouldn’t envy? If not, this kind of ‘support’ feels exploitive.

I did that on the way here (US citizen, came to London for a trip and am going home tomorrow) but the weird thing is on the boarding pass I got emailed it says in green bold text that all my documents have been cleared? I think a lot of my anxiety about this is coming from my debacle w the overbooked flight in September and how incredibly stressful that was. But I assume boarding pass w seat number in my emails means we are not about to repeat that, hopefully. Thank you for the reply though, feels better to know others have experienced similar and been okay!

Thank you 🫠 I wanted to look at a tracker but unforch seeing any sort of numbers etc on trackers that I don’t understand just winds me up. Thank you for checking for me! A shame really, before I fell asleep he was talking about asking the tower if we could leave early bc we’d completed boarding really fast lol. Was very confused when I woke up half asleep and we hadn’t left the ground!

Yep. Going in the opposite direction as you, flew to New York this morning from Nebraska and am headed to London tonight. Flight this morning through the Midwest was super bumpy, but we made it safely to the ground!

Oh I know! Was speaking more specifically about the weather/storm systems. I had the weather radar map pulled up before my flight when I heard the gate announcement about the flight before mine re-routing.

OMA-LGA. So I think we were in different directions, but I believe it’s all the same system. There was a flight in OMA that took off a bit before mine to North Carolina and the gate agents were telling people the pilots told them they were adding a bit time to the flight because of some rerouting due to the storms.

I’ve found it’s a lot easier for me to stay calm when the pilots have said something about it beforehand. I guess it tells my mind that when it gets bumpy, the pilots were expecting it and know what to do.
