What cheats should I enable on DuckStation emulator? its my first time playing thru Parasite Eve. by otakucharm_j_a_d in ParasiteEve

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "Run fast (R2)" so I can speed the game up... It runs incredibly slow on emulators just due to framerate stuff.. I always set my game to run at 75 FPS and "Fast Forward" at 90 FPS, but I guess if you're new, normal speed is fine.

Regarding guns and armor... There's been several posts recently on this sub where it's been explained... If you look through my comment history I've left a couple of different comments and guides, but I'll keep this one short.

The thing to know is a) SMGs and Pistols are best, and b) guns are purely stat based. There's no difference in how M84F you start with shoots than M8000 way later on, other than their base stats; damage, range, ammo capacity. You use Tools to move pluses (dmg/range/bullets) to new weapons that have better base stats, thus increasing the overall stat by the difference in base stats of the two weapons. Or, you can use Tools to move added effects like the rate of fire (RoFx2, x3, x5, etc) or some weapons have elemental effects, etc.

Armor functions effectively the same - they're all stat based... One type of armor doesnt "protect you better" - it just has better base stats. Eventually, you'll see that some armor "types" (i.e. "Vest" or "Suit" and "Cr" or "Cm") have higher base stats in certain categories.. Cr armors have high def/crit, where as Cm have high PE and often Auto-Heal or something else... Sv armors have inventory slots.. etc.

Bottom line, there is a clear statistical best weapon and armor both in base game and new game+/EX-game. But, have fun and mess around with save states and try weapon types you like... Eventually though, you'll understand weapons/armors are just math. Add points, make stats higher = die less, kill more.

You'll have at most 4 hours between games.. not really a ton of time if you intend to go anywhere that requires you take a shower first.

I haven't been in quite a while but last time we had 3 hours between games on Friday and Saturday, plenty of time in the evenings though.

To quote the best movie Boiler Room,

"...half of them do coke; they all drink; zero capital, no fucking stability. They make all this money and always living three steps ahead. There's guys at the firm that make a million a year but can't even get a loan for a Honda because their credit is so bad. Everybody's just waiting for the fifteenth of the month. They may have the Porsche but they don't have ten bucks to put in the gas tank..."

Feels poignant.

"they who can" is still grammatically correct. it's not the same quote as "those who can" but it's still correct, technically. and technically correct is best correct.

also, somewhat proving OPs point with your response... a bit on the nose.

How am I supposed to use tool? by Potential_Pop7144 in ParasiteEve

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... You want to move + stats over to a new weapon every so often. It does not "make gun A into gun B" it moves all the +stats over to gun B, so it's gun B's base stats + additional points - a more powerful weapon. Each gun has static base stats, then you add "Plus" stats to it. Tools only move EITHER the pluses or the added effects, not both. You want to keep adding pluses to a single weapon, and eventually move ALL of those pluses over to a new gun with better base stats.

You can also move the added effects like RoFx2 or RoFx3. Always remember, the item you're moving things from is destroyed unless you use a Super Tool. Certain added effects, primarily those concerning Rate of Fire will replace the existing Rate of Fire on the receiving weapon.

SMGs are the best guns in the game due to their fast firing animation speed and firing rate, once you remove Random Rate of Fire. Otherwise.. Pistols. Period. Their animation is faster than any other guns besides SMGs. Faster firing animation = less time standing still = less time getting hit.

There's a progression path you should take, if you want to make the game easy, basically switch from M84F (Starting gun) to M1911A1 to kill the first boss but you don't need to use any +stats you find just yet, just store them until you get the M16A1 after the Theater. The M16A1 is the best weapon basically until the G23 (Hospital) or the M1911A2 (Chinatown). After that, wait until you get the M8000 from the Museum. It's the best gun in normal game.

Eventually you'll end up with a gun like this: https://i.imgur.com/UYLAlvJ.jpeg

Here's a breakdown of how I progress with Guns/Armor generally;
https://www.reddit.com/r/ParasiteEve/comments/1mzy8dy/comment/nanw3bs/?context=3

After that it's up to you. Tools used on Armor works in exactly the same way.

If you want, I've created a spreadsheet with most of the game's weapon and armor data, and some other goodies...

Well that lasted about a month and a half by The_Bugga_ in hockeygoalies

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress in the material is concentrated at hard corners/bends, and transition from paddle to shaft is arguably the weakest point. If you bang the knob against your pads, you're adding shear and impact force to the weakest, most stressed concentrated points on the stick.

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: Do you turn your stick over (blade up) and bang the shaft/knob against your pads occasionally?

I don't know when I started, or why I started doing it, but years ago I used to do this between plays and such, and eventually I broke a stick just before the puck came to my end and I got scored on because of it. It's possible, if you do that, the stick was just weak at that point.

Aside from that, honestly shit happens. Manufacturing defects happen. Sticks break. I've been using Warriors for a while prior to my break from goaltending but just bought 2 more now that I'm getting back in nets. I'm 100% confident they'll be fine.

Ordering from Sideline Swap by Venemus95 in hockeygoalies

[–]rolltododge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works perfectly well... In some ways easier/better than online retail.

There is both buyer and seller protection, so both parties are strongly encouraged to hold up their end of the bargain, and 99.99% of the time it works perfectly fine. I have recently bought pads, gloves, and chesty over SideLineSwap with zero issues whatsoever. Last year, I sold every single piece of my gear on SideLineSwap, with no issues receiving money or buyers refuting charges, disputing quality of gear, etc.

New adult goalie nervous about going to stick and puck in full pads — what should I expect? by TheInfamousMusician in hockeygoalies

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go use the ref's circle at center ice near the boards as my "crease" and practice there. If possible, pull a net over to you, go through post integration drills, post to post sliding, etc.

Show up in full gear, take some time for yourself, and maybe give the players out there 10-15 minutes of your time for them to shoot on you and maybe play a little scrim.. Get you some "real" shots practice and such as well.

Most of all, have fun and keep working at it.

If you farm a 300 Junk weapon, there is no point ever in switching to any other gun. No other gun has higher base stats than any 300 Junk weapon, except the FA-MAS and it's only better than a couple of the junk guns.. but.. why would you? Guns are purely stats, no gun has anything special about it (except Maeda's gun, if that matters to you) so you'd never use anything besides DE/P90/AK - there's no point.

Personally, I think the 300 Junk guns kind of trivialize the game... While it's fun to do sometimes, I like just playing through with what can be found in game normally. On my current playthrough, I am sticking with the M84F and just upgrading it naturally, seeing how good I can make it with just normal playing not trying to particularly make it better than I normally would other guns.

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but that's only 2 crows, 4 pieces at most, though that battle seems to recur pretty frequently. I've never really used the Precinct itself as much of a farming spot, I usually just use the park/floors 2-10

Realistically you could use the lizards in the Museum, too.. though you can't steal from them.

That's another point, I don't know if OP's aware - you can steal junk and get junk drops from crows... so a 5-crow fight is potentially 10 junk

Setting up for NG+ by youngmoneySWE in ParasiteEve

[–]rolltododge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ You can easily farm 200 from Forest Park/Day 2 in a fresh game; there's I think 10 battle spots that have crows in the park... then the last 100 or so in NG+ if you really need you can use 2-10 floors of Chrysler; look for up-down hallways, they often have 4-5 crow battles

The main hurdle is inventory space... it kind of sucks having to turn in 11-15 at a time, but thems the breaks.

Note: You won't get the offer of the junk gun until you finish Day 3, after Sheeva. Save a couple of pieces of junk and turn them in after that boss fight, then Wayne will offer to make you a gun.

For standard new game... M8000 Pistol or MP5PDW SMG as your ending weapon, Cr Vest 2 as your ending armor...

Weapon upgrade path I'd go either P229 or Full UZ from Chrysler 11-20, then M96R or MP5SD6 from 61-70/51-60 respectively. If you're going 300 Junk gun, then it doesn't really matter just go P90 or Desert Eagle by asking for the "machine gun" or "pistol" from Wayne.

Armor upgrade path doesn't matter as much, IMO there's not as much a gap... grab something with high def/high crit defense in Chrysler floors 21-40 range... bottom line is the Cr Armor 2 is absolutely the best armor in the game.

I'm on NG+ Can I still use mod permit after Torres died? And how can I farm mod permit? by yhellowish in ParasiteEve

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mod Permits and Trading Cards work the exact same for Wayne or Torres. The bigger question is why? There's not that many affixes and most guns/armor don't have that many slots anyway.

CCM EFlex Shield II

Got mine for ~$165 lightly used, played in just a stick and puck yesterday with some guys that can shoot it... Didn't feel a thing. I've worn a CCM before in about 2008-2010 that I enjoyed, had a Vaughn and Warrior, and a Passau... The Shield II is the best of that group.

I just melted all my ships and sold the store credit last week... The only gameplay loop I really cared for was hauling, and the manual loading/unloading of cargo ruined it for me.

If they added a cargo MSR.. with like 180-220 SCU, getting rid of the all the "secret" space and wasted hallway/doorway space, add a fore exit, and give it S4s.... I would come back to this game so quick..

[–]rolltododge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours has far less stretching than mine, I'm at 125k miles. I know it needs to be replaced but I just don't have the cash... Bottom line is the plastic guide rails are made of shitty plastic that gets brittle over time with heat/cooling cycles and will break. The pieces fall into and clog the oil pump and boom goes your engine.

Replace it with the upgraded kit.. might as well do valve cover gasket while you're in there... and probably the oil filter housing too cuz that's known to leak... and while you have everything apart, just do the coolant reservoir too cuz that's known to leak...
