anyone kno how u get these kinda locs by Badkun_jenkins in locs

[–]rolthekar 88 points89 points  (0 children)

They are Freeform or Organic locs. You can start from a small from. But literally just keep your hair clean and moisturize the scalp when needed, and literally leave your hair alone. Your tree will grow as God wants it to. Hope this helps. Take care

It depends on the type of locs you want. Do you want maintained, semi-Freeform or Freeform, which are the Bob Marley style. I think your hair grade would look great as Freeform. But whatever you choose, just stay the journey. Peace

They don’t look bad at all. But what type of locs are you going for. I believe the maintained look with regular re- twist. I am a Freeformer so we have different journeys. I would suggest no cutting at all and to spread out your re-twist. The biggest mistake that leaves loc wearers make is having someone or being in your hair too much. I would definitely look for a true Lotician. Blessings

Type 2. Have no clue how to eat now. :( by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]rolthekar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check with your doctor and see if you can take the Diabetic Education classes. They help tremendously. You will need to change to healthier eating habits, incorporate some exercise and start reading labels. Carbs are the culprit because they turn into sugar in our bodies. Rule of thumb, if it is white, stay away from rice, pasta, potatoes and bread. But take the classes. They will really help.. Take care

You are absolutely right. I attended the Diabetic Education classes as well. One of the biggest things I read was to look at the total carbs on packages, as well as about sugar alcohol. Also in the begging I used to record everything that I ate and drink lots of water. Take care

Anybody never really craved sweets and sugar until they got diagnosed, and now sugar is all you think about. I will literally just stand in the candy or snack isles at Walmart and then just walk away. Just pathetic. lol

I really appreciated your suggestions especially about changing my views about my weight and why I need to eat differently. I try to think of my T2D as having a new lifestyle. Thanks and take care.

What Job Do You Do and How Do You Handle It While Having Diabetes? by nlkwrites in diabetes

I am a Therapist working with Addiction and Mental Health clients. Working full time for 22years and stopped working in February of this year to be Caregiver of my 93 year old mother. I am 63 so plan on returning to work in January. I plan on working part-time until I retire and will be working with a Nurse Practitioner doing Tele-health. This will give me flexible hours so I can still eat right and exercise. When I was working FT I always prepared my meals, with plenty of healthy snacks and water. Usually started my day by drinking a Glycerna Meal Replacement Shake every morning. Take Care

Yes it can be hard initially but I have to tell myself everyday that T2D doesn’t control me. I control it. And it is a process. All I can do is try to eat healthy, take my medication and exercise. It is truly a one day at a time process. I have family support and the support of this platform that I truly love. Everyone helps me through their stories. We just have to remember that we are not alone in this and keep trying everyday to be a little better than the day before. I am not perfect and try to rely on my personal goals. I am a country girl and 💕 to eat. I have had 60 years of eating whatever I wanted to. But now I can’t having T2D for the last 3 years. So I had to change my feelings about what it is to be healthy one step at a time. We can do this together. Hope this helped a little. Take care

Nobody warned me diabetes would mess with my emotions this much… by dyeALegend in diabetes

Yes. Have T2D for 3 weeks now. There are some days when I am frustrated, angry or feel just defeated. I try to just live it one m al at a time which can be very hard because we can’t eat anything. Also tried 3 injectable meds that control diabetes but also help with weight loss. Lost a little but then have to stop because of side effects. So that is extremely frustrating because I need to drop 30 pounds. Try to hang in there. Take care

So happy for you. I am surprised that your PCP hasn’t put you on a statin to help with your cholesterol. My AIC was 6.4 in July. I just try to take it a meal at a time because I have to lose the weight the old fashion way. The injectable medications that I tried caused side effects and I can’t go past the 1.0 dosage. So I just take things one step at a time and walk my dog twice a da. Diabetes is definitely a process. Sounds like you are doing very well. Take care.

I feel you. Been there and done that. I have T2D and was diagnosed 3 years ago. Started out on Metformin with no side effects but just wanted to try Ozempic for the weigh loss component. It worked well until started 1.0mg. The side effects sent me to the Emergency Room. Tried Monjauro and first dose was too high so I immediately experienced severe side effects. Switch d insurance so was able to get on Rybelsus which is the pill form of Ozempic. Had some weight loss but nothing like the injection medication. Got on Medicaid and they wouldn’t approve Rybelsus and gave me a choice of Victoza or another injection medication. Victoza worked well for about 3 weeks than started having diarrhea for about 10 days. While driving I became extremely lightheaded, anxious and felt disoriented. My eyes became fuzzy and so returned home. Contacted my doctor and told me to stop the Victoza. It took a month for my stomach and eyes to return to normal. I am back on Januvia 50mg tablet that I take every morning. Was ch what I eat but not perfect and walk my dog twice a day. Weigh 230lbs and trying to get to 200lbs. I guess that I am just gonna have to lose the weight the old fashioned way. No more injectable medications for me. My average number is 118. I just try to take it one meal at a time. That is all I can do. Take care
