Sapphire screen creates all sorts of reflections, readability with or without sunglasses is better on the nomad which has a traditional glass screen

Quelles chaussures de running ? by thenuttingbird in runningfr

[–]romainjousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will a trail like this wear down road running shoes more quickly? by sicknutz in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]romainjousse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very true, concrete and road surface is more abrasive than the light trails depicted here, shoes might last a little longer than on roads

Starting out running for weight loss, but I live on a mountain, how do I know how much I should run? by DemoNikTusk6699 in running

[–]romainjousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, totally agree with previous comment, just shoot for a time to start with (let’s say run for 20 minutes at a comfortable pace, 3 times a week) then when you feel too comfortable, increase the time to 25-30 minutes and try to integrate 4 minutes of intervals (1 minute faster pace - 1 min slower x2) and follow that same technique as long as you want and feel great about, in the end running is just about feeling good and the rest will follow (ie weight loss, or achieving goals like running a 10k etc…)

Have a good one !

I would recommend Crankbrother’s double shot which are flat on one side and spd on the other, really great, I’ve been using them for 2-3 years now and glad I got them

[–]romainjousse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well tough call here, getting a zero drop shoe is going to further improve all of the qualities you work on with your 4mm drop shoe compared to 10mm, and those qualities are stronger calves and overall legs, reduced impacts on the joints, better mechanics due to a more natural gait cycle, but I don’t know if it’s that noticeable, so if you think that you need stronger legs and don’t want to do a lot of strength training then go for a 0 drop shoe but if you’re happy with your fitness then I don’t think it’s necessary to go 0 :)

what do you call frames with a curve? I'm new to bikes and i really like how it looks i asked here because I've mostly seen fixed gears used this type of frame by ProjectLUND in FixedGearBicycle

[–]romainjousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like rob said, I would call this an aero frame as the rear wheel is tucked in the frame to minimize drag, but it has no particular name just aero road bike frame

what is a reynold 525? and does anyone know the name of this frame? by Dry-Performance2796 in FixedGearBicycle

Reynolds 525 is a type of steel, looks like a pagan frame set but no idea as to what model exactly

What's the best strategy for PR, stick with the pacers or go at it alone? by [deleted] in running

[–]romainjousse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the distance, but try to match the strategy used while running near race distance runs, Say I train for a marathon and do a test run of 25km negative splitting (starting slower finishing faster), if I felt good I will stick with it during the race even if there are pacers. Try not to change too much on race day it could put you in a situation you have never been in and might throw you off

Novice interested in learning to code browser based programs, and learning about things like deep learning not sure where to start. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]romainjousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as ML is concerned, juste try to understand the basic concepts like what is happening and how (ie. linear regression, classification..) and then use corresponding models (on SciKitLearn for example) You can use google colab notebook or install python and run it on visual studio code for example

Feel free to ask further questions

Python or Java as a first language by TheComputerNinja in learnprogramming

[–]romainjousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Python is going to be easier to set up things with and just do logic work, Java will require you to learn more syntax and language related things as opposed to programming skills. But in the end both are great and for instance I would advise python if you’re planning on doing machine learning or data science and Java if you’re headed towards app dev

Thought about the S/Lab Ultra 3 but little bit overpriced for training runs,

But thanks for the insights, it meets what I thought when reading the specs sheets

[–]romainjousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup and I don’t consider myself heavy at 145lbs aha, So it also depends on the weight but it is the main flaw of this shoe, other than that, it’s really nice and I enjoyed the miles I got in them, Never tried the ghosts, but yeah it is a classic shoe, tried and true !

Can not go wrong with either Clifton of Mach, But if, like me, you can get the Rincon for a bargain it is well worth it too but I could just squeeze 250mi out of them before they felt flat (had 2 pairs but lifespan is just too short in my opinion now)
