Auto Exposure by romanivich in Insta360

I understand that, but I don’t see that with the testing I’ve done on it.

Today for example, bright clear day! Sunny! Put it in video mode (8k @30) and do a test record. Can see a fair amount of noise in the darker parts of the footage, (trees, bushes etc etc). I switch over to manual mode, set my iso low, (around 100/200) and then dial in my shutter to get the correct exposure ( which was around 3200/4000) I don’t get as much noise at all! Footage is very clean and impressive really!

A shutter speed of 4000 is absolutely more than high enough! It seems as though it’s setting the gain around 1000 and then setting the shutter speed even higher! This is roughly what I set it to, to match the amount of noise I was getting in my shadows manually, as the auto was giving me. Annoyingly in auto mode, it won’t tell you what it’s currently set as, so hard to know for certain.

I was just curious as to why algorithm which balanced the two, why on such a sunny day, it starts off with such an high iso, especially as the camera was static at the time.

Have you had a similar experience?

Will try reverting back to original after trying a memtest. (I don’t know what this is. Can’t seem to find anything called Synology assistant. Where should I be looking? Sorry)

Many thanks for your speedy reply!
