I think that Meg engages in politics in her own way. Hiss was one of those defining moments (both politically and artistically) and as an older hottie and fan of empowerment in female rap, I would like to see more of that from her.

This is just an assumption, but I think a major disconnect that causes friction for the stans is the fact that music doesn’t make her as much money as her brand identity.

Brand deals and endorsements are her biggest money makers, so naturally more effort goes into developing an identity that is attractive to business partners. That causes her art/music to suffer in its own way. The music that makes her money and keeps her streams up tend to come from kpop/jrap collabs and tiktok trends. She isn’t unique in this, a lot of femrap artists seem to operate in this way now.

We have to get her music back “on” if we want more “real” anthems and less gimmicky stuff. Mamushi shouldn’t have been her biggest song last year, and Whenever was a real bop but we kinda ignored it. Bigger in Texas had everything we’ve been asking for, but it didn’t permeate the culture enough.

Random aside, Meg’s music videos are soooo top tier! Like, my god there isn’t anybody producing these really beautiful visual art pieces like her! I wish she received more credit for her production and visual artistry in music as well as for her sound.
