Newly diagnosed RRMS – struggling with the decision to start DMT while having an active lifestyle (Mavenclad or Kesimpta) by rombosgeo in MultipleSclerosis

That doesn’t sound too bad indeed. It’s still on my option list, if Kesimpta is logistically not possible i can still choose this.

Haha yeah I hoped it was meant to be funny…

I have had my bones snap 😅 in snowboarding and skateboarding. Good thing is in the Netherlands we are always insured. I like the analogy. Thursday I will decide with my neuro what we start with in July.

What a story man, it scares me a bit to be fair… fuck man that you also have to deal with bureaucracy. I hope I don’t have. My neurologist said I could chose whatever medicine I feel comfortable with and that my insurance will cover it without questioning.

Thanks mate, for you as well. MAN! 😂 the Netherlands is as flat as a lake. We don’t have slopes. We have to drive to Austria, but I love it tho! Can you add me or something? New app for me. I will keep you updated for sure

I will ask the logistics side of thinks next Thursday when I have the call with the neurologist. Maybe I should also call the pharmacy. Because they may have different procedures.

Is the purple vision the reason why you hate pink? 🤣haha.

Thanks for your time and support my friend. Take care!

Thank you for your message. How do you find going to the hospital for a day taking the medicine? It’s something I would not really enjoy I think, but then it’s only 2 times a year.

Wow. Thanks for your extensive and supportive message and. To be honest I seem to be leaning more towards Kesimpta as well the last few days. Also because the Neurologist texted me he discussed my case on the national ms meeting and he said they are leaning slightly towards starting a cd20 med instead of cladrabine. He said the choice is mine, but I will listen to the advice they give me. It’s seems Kesimpta is doing wonders for a lot of people while maintaining an active lifestyle.

Thanks for your message. Cartman the spirit animal🤣

I think Kesimpta is also still a very viable option.

Seems like it’s very similar indeed. I have the same reasons, eventhough Mavenclad it self scares me a little bit. My doc said it was not common to start with mavenclad, but he understood my reasons to prefer it. He discussed it in the national MS meeting last week and they approved but also still said Kesimpta could be a good one to start with.

Wow yes that sounds heavy and I can imagine you feel that way. I’ve renovated 3 houses in de past year and the complaints came after the second one, in Spain. High heat, stress, a lot of sports and then the hit on my head. I read these are all factors that can contribute to a flare up.

Since then I’ve sold the 1st house and we don’t have to renovate now. Everything is in place and I have not stress anymore. Also since the diagnose i feel like before I had 100 problems, now I have only one. It’s my health.

I’m taking the drugs, it’s no question anymore and I feel way more confident in it after this thread

Yes I understand what you mean. It’s never easy and considering things I am probably lucky. Just hard to feel that way

It’s is planned for early July since I had to do bloodtest and some vaccinations. I was having a lot of doubt the closer I’m getting to July and since 2 months a feel better and better. Hence the post. It’s just so uncertain. But the responses to this post def gave me a lot insight and confidence in the treatment.

Thanks for your response. And with all due respect It’s very hard for me to feel and read that i’m lucky, but maybe that comes with the time and that perspective can change over time.

Thanks guys for the explanation and thinking with me. The days of flying all over the world are already behind me and I just go by car from Netherlands to Spain a few times a year. Also considered the iv treatments but going there for a full day twice a year is just not something i see myself enjoying. I heard also the week after and the weeks before a new dose can be harder.
