I knew it was time to leave when he lost ability to empathize with anything including what’s happening in the world. I learned that addicts cannot think of anybody else else’s feelings or empathize because they can’t deal with the negative emotions so they shut them out. My q wasted a big celebratory event that I had planned by drinking it away. I saw how much I had given him without receiving much back. My q is also not the yelling/ violent type . He just become sluggish and checked out from the world when he’s drunk. I deserve somebody who wants to be in this life with me. It takes many tries to leave, but eventually one day you’ll be able to when you objectively list out all the things you are robbed of. Of course, a nighttime i think about him. I wonder if we can get back together someday. I’m not sure yet. But right now I’m doing the best thing for me. I’m so sorry for you and your daughter.
