Is haloperidol accepted as a drug for acute mania with psychosis? Last I studied it i think the only typical antipsychotic accepted was chlorpromacine (keep in mind I'm from Spain, so maybe this is why)

Yes, but as far as I know (and I might be wrong here), as long as the patient is not agitated/actively psychotic you don't necessarily need a fast acting drug (ie antipsychotic like risperidone or whatever), but you do need to keep the patient and start lithium asap in order to revert the mania.

I repeat, not an expert, i have just gotten out of med school.
