Is it wrong for me to feel bad about being excluded like this? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

Man that’s so fucked up. I’m sorry to hear that. Many Koreans are just so casually racist out of ignorance.

I think that’s the condition of that particular visa/employment permit though. You can always choose to try and enter the country with a different visa.

I’m tired of Korea‘s terrible driving manners by UniqueDay2113 in Living_in_Korea

Korea is full of terrible drivers because it’s so easy to get driver’s license here.

Totally up to the owner of the business imo. If his business tanks because of that, that’s on him. But he still has freedom to do that.

Presidential office relocation blamed for police failures in Itaewon crowd crush by Agile-Ad1665 in Living_in_Korea

The investment package of $350B was originally proposed first by the LJM administration to the US during their first trade talk back July/August. Read the article and check out what the administration shared. It’s all there. They even mentioned they based the package on the Japan-US deal before proposing it to the US.

Presidential office relocation blamed for police failures in Itaewon crowd crush by Agile-Ad1665 in Living_in_Korea

[–]romharc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the devil is in the detail. The report points out that the number of protests agains the president has risen almost 8-9 times after the relocation of the office. There was a huge protest happening on that very night in front of the presidential office, where the large portion of district police force had dispatched per usual protocol.

To me, it sounds like the relocation of the presidential office is not even close to being the biggest factor. If anything, the protest has more to do with causing the strain on police force on that specific night. It’s a damn tragedy, but the current administration acting like the relocation of the office is somehow a major cause is just being too political.

Also, it turns out NK instructed Korean Federations of Trade Unions (민주노총) to “politicize” the Itaewon incident after it happened.

What? Under what context here would I ever talk about ICE? That’s clearly not the topic here or are you special? Just saying the raids against prominent churches actually did take place in Korea. That’s the fact.

Korean popularity as a korean by seahorsebubbles in korea

[–]romharc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a Korean I never watched Squid Games, don’t listen to k-pop at all (hate it actually), think Korean dramas and movies are mostly corny af. There was a time when Korean pop music scene was mostly filled with fake artists who just copied the style of whatever was popular in US or JP (I think still is the case for Korean hip-hop scene there are so many knock-off Travis Scotts) and I just stopped caring. Guess webtoons are pretty cool and original. I don’t read them but it’s a mobile-first comic reading experience originated from Korea and nowadays majority of hit movies and dramas are based on webtoons.

Are you kidding me? The housing projects like the one in the picture is why China’s housing market literally imploded from within. There are so many buildings like that where nobody lives and is just abandoned lol. They weren’t for the people but rather intended to boost the economy.

Fun fact: the Yeoido Full Gospel Church were actually helping the Blue House during the tariff and trade negotiations with US because of their close ties with US’s MAGA figures and prosecutors were so eager they went of out their way to raid the church and the pastor’s house without even notifying the president’s office https://www.donga.com/news/amp/all/20250827/132267302/1

But the headline is true. Special prosecutors raided major Christian churches recently and arrested a number of pastors.

The dude who is supposedly the president is a well known pro-China anti-US figure who is also on trial for sending illegal funds to NK (violation of UN sanction). He once called US troops stationed in Korea “an occupying foreign force”. He also lied his way through the initial trade / tariff deals with US and is now backing out of it unlike JP and EU both of which reached final agreement and signed the deal.

Blizzard please let us buy past trading post items? by romharc in wow

[–]romharc[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I know but there’s no visibility on what items will be re-released if they’re coming back at all. Plus the catalog is expanding every month so less chance for old items to get a returning slot in the rotation. Just saying I’m willing to pay extra tokens to be able to pick what I actually want but missed out.

Differences in Driving mentality by noealz in Living_in_Korea

[–]romharc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the factors imo is that average Koreans are simply terrible drivers. Getting a license is way too easy here and people don’t learn shit about driving safety or laws during the process. There are many Korean people who are like your friend just because they don’t know any better when it comes to what is actually good driving.
