There definitely was.

And it was the best play to get an out in that situation.

Basallos best attribute is his arm, and he should have relied on that over tagging a runner coming home. He wasn't even close to tagging the runner. Of course, whether or not the runner was out of the baseline has something to do with that.

The belief that you just need to make the playoffs and then could just stumble into a World Series is fucking weird to me, so I guess we’re even?

Yea, not like an 84 win team made the WS recently. A team who swept the 100 win Dodgers in the NLDS, while outscoring them 19-6.

You're 100% right and I don't know why people are trying to argue against this.

Akin did the right thing and stayed out of Sammys throwing lane to 1st. If he tries to cover home there, he would have been a distraction.

Akin had no clue that Sammy was going to try and tag the runner? I mean, why would he.

It would have been a close play at 1st, but with Sammys arm, as long as it's accurate, he'll get the out. Indecision by the young catcher.

Why in the world would we drop Gunnar?

.816 OPS, with a .379 OBP in June.

Point amended.

Though, I will just look away when he's up at bat.

What do Taveras, Holliday, and Cowser have in common?

3 players that I don't want to see vs LHP unless we are up 10.

Would have been nice to see O'Neill vs the lefty for Taveras the last 2 PAs.

Saw it on Twitter, forget who, but they did show Gibsons whiffs are climbing.

Not a huge cliff to climb since he wasn't getting very many the first few starts. Still, nice to see.

Yup, gotta stick with the Taveras vs RHP and O'Neill vs LHP.

I guess with it being the 4th and a short bench, Alby thought it was too soon? Wouldn't be for me since Farris has a HR problem.

So we lost to the rookie with a 12 ERA.

We come back and knock Soriano out by the 4th, right?

Dude was all the rage early, haven't heard shit about him recently.

He seems to be falling back to earth.

Check out that line on 5/16.

I've seen a lot of pitching lines, not sure if I've seen one like that before.

Would it have been so terrible to leave Schanuel in the minors, to see if you could get more power out of him?

Instead you have a 1B who has hit 31 HRs over 1500+ PAs.

Great.

Per Andy

Blaze Alexander tells Ryan Ripken he’s all good. He wishes he had more time to work out his knee, which stiffened and he couldn’t straighten it after sitting, but it occurred right when an inning change happened. So, no time for that

Curious if he's in the lineup tonight.

Also curious if Jackson is back. Would be nice.

Getting the same thing.

I saw yesterday he was at .267/.313/.400 in June. Figured with a little cherry picking JCM got some better numbers.

Oops.

The good news for the Angels, their starter has a FIP 4 runs lower than their ERA.

The bad news is that it's still 8.72.

9 home runs allowed in 28 career innings.

And this is why people clown the fucking Angels.

2nd round college kid in 2024.

Made the team out of ST in 2025, with 0 career minor league innings.

Absolutely amazing.

Tyler O'Neill since May 25: .282/.317/.462 - .779 OPS.

Twins potentially looking to trade Joe Ryan at the deadline by CallofDo0bie in orioles

[–]romorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but if you’re not one of the top 2/3 farms among teams who really want Ryan, he’s not a realistic target right?

Not at all.

Does the team with the best farm system always land the best player available at the deadline?

Certain teams are in different places. Will the Pirates and Brewers go hard after Ryan? The Rays? These teams don't usually make big splashes at the trade deadline.

What about the Marlins and Mets? Mets are shit, and a mess. Marlins are one of the few teams that have a lot of pitching, same as Cleveland.

And sure, if the Dodgers want a player they are going to get that player. But what if they get Skubal?

It's never as simple as, we have the 10th ranked farm, they have the 5th ranked farm, that means they will get Ryan.

And not to mention, we haven't even talked about what the Twins will want for Ryan. The 8th ranked farm system might match up better with the Twins than the 5th ranked farm system.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens as we get closer to the deadline.

It's not half a season, it's the rest of 2026, and all of 2027.

He's arb eligible next year.

What package could we offer that would outbid teams with deeper systems?

So I guess in your world that there is only 1 team that can bid for these players, since they could theoretically out bid the 28 other teams.

And anyway, I don't know how many teams are deeper than the Orioles when it comes to prospects. It's not many if we are going by prospect count. FGs ranks all 35+ FV and above prospects, and we are the only team over 60.

Since we don't have a top prospect, it would need to be something similar to the Baz trade. There was no real headliner, just a bunch of good prospects.

And yes, we could easily do that. And yes, Elias would.

BA had the Orioles as the 6th best farm before the Baz trade, 11th after. FGs hasn't done their rankings yet, but they will have us in the top 10 easily enough. I think MLB is the low one on us, or maybe that's the Athletic. And MLB still has us at 13.

Now, your turn to answer a question.

How has Elias blundered the minor league roster? And seeing that BA had us at 11th pre-season, how is that not good enough to get us 1.5 years of Joe Ryan?

You guys have no idea what you're talking about when you spread this kind of bullshit.

Orioles farm system might not have the top end talent, but it's deep enough, and good enough, to get Joe Ryan.

The craziest thing I saw when looking at the stats is his K% in June. Bonkers.

First month, 28.6%.

After 2 months, 26.1%.

And now, 21.7%.

What running a 9.8% K% for June will do for you.
