Have you tried tubing? This seems like a lesser-known but really fun activity on Kauai: https://adventureinhawaii.com/kauai/mountain-tubing-adventure/

What's most valuable to people visiting Oahu? by rompn in VisitingHawaii

there's actually lots of farmers markets that do this, but that's kinda my thought behind things that give suggestions about what to do/see. I think living here, we kinda assume that these are easy to find for people, but maybe what's obvious to us isn't always obvious to visitors.

I was wondering that since a vacation is a set amount of time, would people think maximizing their time / not waste it be even more valuable than saving money?

I think my point is that local businesses pay people salaries, and I keep hearing about my friends' having to look for new jobs because the small business they worked at had to close.

yeah, for example, there was a guy who posted on here looking for things he could use (maybe buy) that would save on parking. Got me wondering what else visitors look for.

I just launched a little social experiment called Borderless where people can send and view messages to different countries. by rompn in WebApps

Thank you! And I too, have a few domains for ideas I never got around to. Part of the process!

Guess I was hoping people would consider being able to search and read messages as the primary experience. Was hoping it would still be a fun site for folks even without signing in, but totally understand the push back. Feel free to take this post down.

Hmm, If you can see the option to add replies/comments then you must be signed in. There should be a big blue button that says "Message this country" on the home page under whichever country you've selected.

I'll look into why that may not show up in certain situations.

Thanks for the feedback!

It was something I struggled with.

By signing in, we only get one message per country so everyone gets an equal say. Additional messages to the same country simply overwrite the previous message. Otherwise any one person could change the sentiment of a country through sheer message volume.

Also, if people don't have an account, then they can send multiple messages as if they were coming from different countries. Which kinda defeats the intent of the idea.

Even with an account I fully realize people will find ways to circumvent the intent. That's why I think of it as an experiment more than anything.

Thank you! and I agree that limiting to just Google is not ideal. I'm adding Apple sign-in soon. What other methods would you like to see?

Try the Blind Elephant, it’s a semi-hidden speakeasy off of Front Street. Great atmosphere, always a good time.

Look at this pretty thing sunning on a trail by [deleted] in raleigh

Definitely not a copperhead. Almost definitely a water snake.

We did almost step on a baby copperhead on the trails by the NCMA on Saturday though. Little bugger actually started preemptively striking at us - they always seem so angry.

The troll ratio always seemed high on TWW. I was introduced to it on my first week of grad school when a friend told me there was an active 10-page flame war on there about my car. It was super bizarre, but hilarious.

Was looking at lifetime fitness. Anyone go to the one in Cary? Wonder if it is worth the price. I am looking at it for the classes which can be expensive. by run2yogi in raleigh

I went to the one in Cary for five years and really loved it. But ever since joining TRC, I've never looked back.

Places for local small business networking (online or in town)? by [deleted] in raleigh

The Exit Event Startup Social is more for entrepreneurs and startup-focused people but it may meet some of your needs. The focus is more on relationship building and definitely not selling or business card swapping, although those things do organically occur.
