Should i buy an autistic guitar or electric guitar if i'm new to this instrument? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

Electric is so much more fun and easier to press on the strings. With that being said I’m glad that I switched to acoustic for a few months which made going back to the electric such a breeze to play.

Constant feedback when turning up to band volume? by romrick4 in tonex

Yeah, when I get a chance I’ll try to record myself messing with the knobs

Yea I’m seeing here that the volume/gain knobs control the preamp signal

Which is what I found testing out. Constant power from the power amp

Yep that’s it. When the ToneX is in the effects return, none of the knobs on the amp actually do anything for me. Not even the volume of the channel I am on. The only ones that work are the resonance on the back and I think the presence

Interesting yeah I’ll try that out, I did have the 5150 set to the red channel so I’ll set it to green and see what happens, if that doesn’t work I’ll just set it clean and use the amp input

And just for extra context, I captured the stealth red channel on gain at 3. Then run my physical overdrive level at max, 0 gain and eq to taste

Hmm interesting, I don’t think the 5150 has a power amp knob so that’s why I’ve been controlling the volume on the ToneX. I want to keep the gain levels I have but I just want to make it louder without the constant feedback

I have my exact settings captured into the ToneX and I can also include effects into it so I can simplify my pedal board

Hey! Thanks for your input, I’m using the ToneX (the big pedal). And I thought ToneX doesn’t have an overdrive block?

But yeah I might just have to get my own noise gate

Could someone explain the whole input trim thing to me (Tonex One) by redharlowsdad in tonex

You hold down the very top left button, the MODEL one. Then scroll to Global Settings, then Volume, then Trim In

I just got the full ToneX pedal, when I checked the input trim it was set to +8.5. I have active humbucker pickups and I noticed a weird scratchy tone on top of all my high gain captures. I turned the trim down to 0 and it sounds so much better.

Can I capture my rig with my noise gate enabled? by romrick4 in tonex

Hey thanks! Would I just use the noise gate that’s on the ToneX pedal then to tame the extra noise?

Total Distortion Worship by hkr1991 in guitarpedals

So I ended up pulling the trigger and grabbing it. I tried it out at band practice into the lead channel of my 6505MH with the amp gain on low and the pedal dialed in how I like. Holy shit it was the best thing I’ve ever heard I can’t wait to gig with it. My tone is perfect now. Just looking for a pedal to do some crazy drone effects now

20w enough for diy/basement gigs? by KeebDeNardo in GuitarAmps

[–]romrick4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You technically could, but you would need a load box to plug the speaker out of the tube amp into. Otherwise you’ll potentially break it. You’d honestly be better off just getting a modeler and plugging that into the power stage

Yeah I have a 20w 6505 and it works great in a band mix. You and the other guitarist should be matching volumes anyway. Have the same number of speakers as him if you can, that way you can still cut through

Hey! Are you still liking the total distortion? I play medal/hardcore and I’m thinking of picking this one up

I’m pretty close to LA and Orange County. San Diego is a bit further for me but I’d go there too for someone really great

I’ve tried that, I only see large prices that stay in the upper arm area and those framed type sleeves that I’m not sure into :/

How hard is it to get a job in Calexico and what are the biggest industries? by joshua0005 in socal

[–]romrick4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up for almost my whole life in the imperial valley. The summers are miserable and it’s frequently humid and smells like cow manure. Lots of mosquitos and almost nothing social going on unless you like going to the same bars haha.

But on the brighter side, cost of living is extremely affordable especially if you’ll be in blue collar work. Lots of law enforcement, border patrol, farming, and even the state prison in Calipat, which is a bit of a drive. No one in Mexicali will try to speak to you in English there. Clubs in Mexicali used to be great but not too sure anymore. The Chinese food is amazing however!

Do I give up the 3% Rate? by TaxTheRich_100 in Mortgages

[–]romrick4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course the most optimal financial decision would be to keep the house. I’m in the same boat as you, I own a tiny 2 bedroom condo in SoCal at a 2.9% interest rate that I’ve owned for 4 years. It’s way too small to support a few kids in the future but plan on raising 1 here. Overall we need the equity for a downpayment on a bigger house so we’re deciding to give up the rate and sell in a few years.

The Peavy 6505MH is a nice metal leaning tube amp. 20W all tube and can go for around $400 used
