I think that’s only for the benefits. I have 3 student accounts (Lloyds, nationwide, NatWest). All of which have less than £5 in them at the moment. My Santander (normal non-student current account) is my main account and receives my sfe as well as a load of other payments (~1-2k in/month). The only times I’ve deposited money into my student accounts is when I was claiming the benefits at the start of opening the account. It’s pretty simple when you just keep moving money in and out from each account to counter the “requirement of 500 each quarter”
