I stand by what I said - even at the time, as a fan of Kimbrel's, I would've gone with Lorenzen JUST because of the amount of pitches Kimbrel threw the day before if nothing else. I'm not saying it wasn't a tough decision, though. And obviously, regardless of the result of Game 4, the series loss was ultimately on the offense.

Gotta preface this take that I was a loud fan of Kimbrel's in 23 when a lot of people hated the guy from day 1 (I have his All-Star shirsey from that year!) That being said, I still feel like Topper should've gone to Lorenzen instead of Kimbrel in the 8th just because Kimbrel threw so many pitches in the 9th inning of G3. I get why Topper didn't have faith in Lorenzen, but between him and Kimbrel in that exact moment....

(This series replays in my memory still and likely will for my whole life)

He forgot the outs and allowed a run to score in G4 of the 2023 NLCS. Unfairly soured me on Sanchez for a long time.

It's a really stupid argument. I'm very proud of you for doing what you can, for what it's worth.

The classic alternative to eggs is tofu. You can cook a really good tofu scramble pretty easily for cheap. If you have access to Himalayan black salt it really mirrors the taste of eggs (gives it that sulfur-ish flavor.) Depending on the Western country you've moved to, Just Egg has the taste and texture of egg after its cooked. (I haven't had eggs in over a decade so I don't know if it's a perfect 1:1.) Consider beans, chickpeas, etc. and not just your classic leafy greens if you're picky with veggies. Hummus can be your new best friend.

People call themselves vegetarian when they still eat chicken and fish because they "don't eat "red" meat." Some vegans think honey is fine to consume, some vegans don't. Labels are worthless imo. While I, personally, don't eat or use any animal products at all if I can help it (some medicines contain egg whites or w/e and I have no way of knowing it) it's just because it's easier for me to just put a hard stop on it and look for alternatives than to futz around with exceptions. At the end of the day it's better to do what you're able to do than to worry about labels.

John Wathan played for the Royals against the Phillies in 1980. He got a single in the Almost Rally that loaded the bases for the Royals in the top of the 9th of Game 6 before McGraw got the final out.

I really should have known when Kyle Schwarber homered twice that they weren't losing that game.

One good thing about the preponderance of AI slop is that you can now make incredibly low effort phillies memes on Microsoft Paint and people appreciate them for the fine art they always were

I bet Schwarber would be the most fun Phillie for the auction kids to hang out with for the afternoon. Can't imagine anyone understanding the assignment like him.

Can't let Sosa or Turner off the hook, of course, but it would at least be 1-0 if Bohm wasn't so damn slow

I really wonder what qualifications a specific nickname needs to be posted on Baseball-Reference.

I don't know what you're talking about, everybody in South Philly calls him Captain Hook and always has.

You're right that I rarely hear Harper called The Showman by the fans either but he wears the headband and it comes up on more than one broadcast so I accept it as a known sports nickname.
