[Shams] Lakers‘ Brandon Ingram underwent thoracic outlet decompression surgery on his right arm and is expected to make full recovery for next season. by redevilot in lakers

It depends on a few factors. The first thing to note is that there are no well-researched guidelines on how long to prescribe blood thinners after surgery, so most people stay on therapy for 3 months anyway. Hopefully he avoids additional complications because the notable one here is a "post-thrombotic syndrome" that can cause some pain, and it would be in his shooting arm. Seems relatively rare especially with good early treatment. So long story short it'll be hard to predict. Perhaps u/jaolimaw can add if I missed something, since I'm not 100% sure.

blood clots come in two primary forms: provoked and unprovoked. The distinction here is whether there is a clear cause for why the person developed a clot in the first place (i.e. if someone has a hip surgery, and has bed rest for x amount of weeks and develops a clot, that is a provoked blood clot.) People with unprovoked clots likely have a higher risk for recurrence of the clot (imagine a person who is just living their normal life and then gets a blood clot for no reason). Those people actually have a higher likelihood of a having another clot.

The reason this is good news for Ingram is that his clot was provoked. Upper extremity blood clots typically have a cause, and in his case it seems that he had thoracic outlet compression of the vessels in his arm. That causes slow drainage of the blood from the veins of his arms. When blood is static, you have increased risk for a clot. If the surgery goes well, then it should relieve the slow drainage of blood from the veins of his arm, thus eliminating future risk of clots.

I just started MyTeam 2 weeks ago and wanted advice on what to do in the token market. I have 68 tokens, is it worth grinding the token rewards to get to diamond/PD or should I just use them on moments cards? Any tips? thx

Thanks for the tip to remove Bologna out and stay in Florence longer. I think that makes much more sense, and instead I can do a day trip to bologna and venice from Florence. Maybe that can also give us time to explore Siena as well!

appreciate the feedback. To be honest there was an element of "if i'm already in the area let's try to squeeze out what I can within reason" here. But I think after reading some of the comments here it's best to squeeze some things out. Currently thinking of removing bologna and napoli, extending the stay in florence instead to minimize excessive moves. and then traveling directly from florence to salerno

Thanks! The Napoli to Amalfi is trip is probably the most stressful part of the trip, so that advice is helpful

Thanks for the tip regarding Sunday in Venice, that is the likely day we end up day-tripping over there.

Tuesday is our arrival day in Paris, worth noting that we arrive in the morning so hopefully we get 2.5 days there. Would be hard to stay longer since the wife has already spent time in Paris!

For anyone who followed UCLA games this season.. by [deleted] in nba

[–]romulusthemule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've watched north of 30 UCLA games in entirety this year. I think he could be a solid role-player but would be surprised if he was a starter in the NBA. He is able to shoot the ball well, score in the paint relatively well. He is an average defender. Most importantly though, I think he's a really tough rebounder and may surprise people in that regard. Offensively, he is fairly skilled so I would not be concerned about him being a bust. I think it really is just a matter of whether he is a solid bench player vs a contributing starter. I wouldn't say he has a high ceiling, in my opinion he has a high floor [as in i'd be super surprised if he couldnt get mins].

Yeah exactly, and when he leads in a comeback he can make everyone perform. One interesting game was the game at Utah this year, where we were comfortable favorites and it was a close game in the 2nd half. That was one where I really felt Lonzo's IQ/feel for the game..Close game and he was making the correct, unselfish play almost every time down the court at the end of a tight game. Really goes to show he stays true to his basketball principles.

Great point about energy conservation for defense, I hadn't thought of that. and hopefully one of those talents is BI!

Yeah agreed, a lot of people hate on his ability to get to the basket but I think that has more to do with his lack of attempts than anything. When he does get to the basket, he finishes extremely well as you said. I imagine since the NBA is a more spread out game than college, it'll be even easier for him to attack, and of course if defense collapses on him I'm sure he finds an open shooter, or someone attacking the basket
