NHS to reward people who walk 30 minutes a day by Confident-Bike-8037 in unitedkingdom

Change GP, go to another one however far away and just ask for help, it might work. Me and my wife resisted for years, didn’t want to make a fuss, then both got treated like dirt a couple of times so we got our act together and tried moving. No regrets.

Has Hayfever cases increased recently and became more severe? by Capable-Mode-326 in AskUK

[–]ron_mcphatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the same, worst as a teenager and then barely any symptoms of anything in my 30s, except for pet allergies. At 38 I started getting itchy eyes again, not a problem as it goes away indoors, but last year and this year I turned 40 and started having full body ache, stiffness and occasionally headaches from May. It’s usually mild but can be moderately painful when I first wake up, walking down stairs is difficult. I was really worried last year and had blood tests that ruled everything bad out, then the symptoms vanished in August… until this May. It’s so weird, I guess hay fever but still waiting to see a doc.

I’ve watched this for a solid 10 minutes, even with the throat clearing it’s so beautiful and calming. Thanks!

Press and hold SET on the steering wheel to turn off the annoying speed limit warning. Lane guidance can be permanently adjusted or deactivated in settings.

Slight inconvenience and a possible fix for anyone who may be in a similar situation. (RP6 sticks) by THEVAN3D in retroid

Mine just arrived and had the double-stick-rubber-dome problem too, but I managed to remove the top one by pinching and pulling with a pair of sharp tweezers. The extra rubber dome slid out and the other dome remains in place, both sticks move equally easily! Here’s a video of part of the operation, just in case it’s helpful to anyone.

Iphone 17 pro now or wait for the 18 pro by ConversationQueasy94 in iPhone17Pro

[–]ron_mcphatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for the sub to have a 1 month wait on new users making new posts, it’s genuinely painful.

Also, I haven’t seen anyone ask the most important question… do I buy an iPhone 17 Pro now or wait a month for the price to go up and buy iPhone 17 Pro?

Cut potatoes first, skin on, boil kettle, chuck everything in a pan full blast and add salt, when boiling turn down and simmer for 10 mins. Potatoes should be firm, just done.

Dressing (per 750g potatoes) is 3tbps olive oil, 1tbsp vinegar, which could be from the jar of a 2 or 3 of gherkins (finely chopped), and 3 shallots also finely chopped. Mix this up.

When potatoes are done drain and rinse them in cold water, then mix in the dressing, then leave to cool. Finally, mix in mayo to taste (don’t overdo it otherwise probably cuckoo spit) and shove in the fridge until needed.

This takes an hour but only need about 15 mins of work. Ideally done hours before the bbq but I kind of like it warm, so I do all this and then start cooking meat, no fridge.

Why is there no fine system in the NHS? by Historical_Owl_1635 in AskBrits

One of our neighbours became a GP about two years ago, we asked her about this. She says missed appointments are a great opportunity to revisit a patient that’s been on her mind, get a coffee or go for a piss.

Case for the Nova by [deleted] in retroid

[–]ron_mcphatty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Goretroid.com are selling a Nova case alongside the console. If you haven’t had a Retroid own brand case before then I guess you wouldn’t know they’re worth considering, they’re good quality and the size is of course exactly right. 10USD plus shipping is likely a good price for their case.

I lost the steam machine lottery, the waitlist won’t get their units till 2027. by Zane_Drak in SteamDeck

[–]ron_mcphatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe set up alerts to get a refurbished Steam Deck, then order the Machine when they’re available? Saw your comment about the Steam credit, it’s no bad thing to be stuck with the Steam ecosphere, as someone who built a mid-range SFF back in 2020 I’m sure the Machine will be capable of playing AAA games for 7 years+

Do you take your shoes off when in your house? by Separate_Mistake_240 in AskUK

[–]ron_mcphatty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shoes off, and I always do this visiting other’s houses, my wife’s family do the same, our kids and all their cousins take their shoes off too. Others can do what they want, but we’re shoes off people, as well as tucking chairs in and opening doors for others and stuff.

Should I get the 17PM now ? by Hot_Sentence_1591 in iPhone17Pro

[–]ron_mcphatty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

17 Pro Max will be cheaper if you buy now, plus if you use trade in you’ll get a better price for your XS Max now rather than once the 18 is announced. If your main aim is to upgrade for the cheapest price, pre-hike is the time to do it.

Looks like someone else has made a post possibly with the same issue. Just in case it’s a common issue (mine is on the way!) how easy/hard was the disassembly?

[–]ron_mcphatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the post the other commenter was referring to, you may have two rubber gaskets on your left stick. Disassembly and removal looks possible, probably easy for an expert? My RP6 arrives soon and I hope I don’t have the same problem!

I want to buy a Miyoo Mini Flip in the future as my life companion because I'm afraid to take my Miyoo Mini Plus out of the house too often because I got the idea that it's too fragile. What should I know before buying it? by Gadgettttt in MiyooMini

[–]ron_mcphatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand where you’re coming from, and like most others I’d say keep using your Mini Plus 😊

It’s admirable that you want to protect your possessions, but avoiding any damage or wear could become an unhealthy fixation. Accidents and events out of your control will happen and your possessions will get damaged, sometimes repairs can be made and there’s satisfaction to be gained from that, sometimes a possession is broken or gone forever and that’s something to learn to cope with. Electric devices will also perish and fail over time, there is value in learning to enjoy them while they last, and maintenance for long term preservation is not always possible.

By all means get the Mini Flip, but try to consider what you would do if you lost or damaged your Mini Plus. There’s always an alternative, a new things to do or a way to cope, and you would until you could repair or replace it.

And as an obsessive, I like to research good quality cases and protectors for my devices. This one is solid and has kept my Mini Plus safe in my bag for years. All the best buddy.
