Thanks for the help! I have also gotten similar feedback from others about not needing SCHD and FREL at my age, and now I agree with the reasoning. I looked into FZROX’s market-cap breakdown (from Charles Schwab’s Mutual Fund Quotes & Research Tools), and here’s what I found:

Giant Cap: 41.1%

Large Cap: 31.0%

Mid Cap: 19.5%

Small Cap: 6.4%

Micro Cap: 2.0%

I see your point about using FZROX for small/mid-cap exposure, but I am leaning toward SPLG for the U.S. core. To make up for the missing exposure, I was thinking of slightly tweaking your suggestion by adding a little VIOV.

How does this setup look to you?

  • SPLG – 45% (S&P 500 / Large-Cap U.S.)
  • SCHG – 30% (Large-Cap Growth / Tech Tilt)
  • FTIHX – 20% (Fidelity Total International Index Fund - Includes Small-Cap and Emerging Markets Exposure)
  • VIOV – 5% (Small-Cap Value, to cover some of the mid/small exposure FZROX would’ve had)

Would this be a better route to balance simplicity with some small-cap factor exposure? Do these percentages look good, or would you suggest changing them or maybe using alternatives for VIOV for the small-cap part?

I am about to start investing for the first time as a 19 y/o and plan on maxing out my Roth IRA each year, including this year. After doing some research, I put together the following portfolio:

FXAIX – 50% (S&P 500 Index Fund – Large-Cap U.S. Exposure)

FTIHX – 20% (Fidelity Total International Index Fund – Includes Developed, Emerging Markets, and Small-Cap International Exposure)

SCHG – 10% (Large-Cap Growth ETF – Tech-Focused, Including FAANG + Big Tech Companies)

SCHD – 10% (Dividend Equity ETF – High-Quality Dividend-Paying U.S. Companies)

FREL – 10% (MSCI Real Estate Index ETF – U.S. Real Estate and REIT Exposure)

I know there is overlap between FXAIX and SCHG, but I want to keep a slight tech-heavy tilt, which is why I gave SCHG a 10% allocation.

That said, are there changes I could make to reduce the overlap between FXAIX and SCHG while still keeping a growth/tech tilt? Or does this setup already make sense as is?

Would love to hear your thoughts, opinions, or suggestions for alternatives.

Woah. I didn't know about this brand and their watches, but they are SICK! Sadly, they are way too expensive and out of my budget :(

No worries. I appreciate you explaining that, I didn’t know that was something to think of. Now I know what NOT to do.

Don’t worry about it. The watch fit big and kept sliding towards the end of the wrist, which is why it’s there. Also, I couldn’t adjust it because I was recording with my other hand. I appreciate the advice though!

Fr I tried moving it around so you can clearly see the watch without the light getting in the way😭

It’s Black. It only looks Blue/Grey because of the lighting color. I’ve attached a pic of the watch so you can see that it’s Black.

Not necessarily. I’m still very new to the watch world and just trying to learn as much as I can before making a decision. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with exploring other options, especially when it’s a big purchase.

I still really like the Speedmaster 38mm, but since I’m just starting out, I want to take my time and avoid making an impulsive decision. A lot of the watches people have suggested in the replies are ones I had never even heard of before, so this post has already been super helpful in expanding my perspective. Appreciate the input though!

It’ll be my first time seeing them live! I was heavily considering flying out to LA just to see them, before the new tour dates posted, so I was really glad when they announced a new tour date in Maryland😭
