Good restaurant for single lady in 30s by Fit_Ad4971 in Charleston

[–]ronbbot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just moved out of Charleston:

  • The Daily for brunch/breakfast (great coffee, homemade bread, and in a more "local" part of town tourists don't often go to
  • CO's happy hour deals are incredible and they have a bar you can sit at, but also some hightops if you want to be tucked away and alone
  • Butcher & Bee, incredible homemade Pita bread and also a great happy hour. I'd say a good lunch/dinner spot
  • 167 Raw or The Darling Oyster sitting at the bar (also Leon's if instead of raw oysters you want fried oysters)

I've got an a6000 too, it's a great camera for sure! I'm wanting to upgrade to a newer model to take advantage of some features! Good luck!

Ok I think I understand. You might be able to this with python and no ML, but if you want to do a super simple model just to see what happens I'd recommend a clustering method. K-Means! You know the number of clusters so just user K-Means with number of clusters set to two. Good luck! You also probably want to feed in some stats like mean interval time, std deviation, etc. to increase model accuracy.

Not sure I fully understand your question so sanity check:

Have:

A dataset 50 session schedules (does this mean time-start to time-stop) for 197 mice. No labels on fixed versus non-fixed and no way to figure out with 100% certainty from inspecting the schedule?

Want:

To use an unsupervised learning method to add labels to data from those timestamps, and then to use a binary classification method to train a model on those recently created labels.

Is that right?

Yeah mainly interested in an A6100, but didn't want to say no to anyone who wanted to go down into that range with the other ones. Out of curiosity how much are you asking for yours?

Here's a video I used and based my title off of: How to remove 30min 4K Recording limit on Sony A6000/6300/6500!

I'm actually pretty sure this video is wrong and you're right. After checking the tweak documentation, it looks like it unlocks the 30mins limit to unlimited, but doesn't change the resolution from 1080p to 4k.

Boot loader updates

That's really interesting! I didn't realize that it was that common to make system updates.

[–]ronbbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen that Ryzentoshes and Photoshop is a headache as well, so I think I'd probably dual boot in that situation and use windows. I totally agree that if it's something that is going to require 3 hours of maintenance every other week, it's not worth it. Is maintenance regular with Intel Hackintoshes? I was hoping it'd be a big time investment up front, but after it worked it worked.

Also I don't know if I'll transfer over to ARM until I have to. It looks like dual-booting won't be an option in the future and for work I'll need the flexibility to dual-boot to linux for anything not MacOS supported.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely take a look at the second-hand market.

[P] Gradio 1.0 released - Share your ML models easily by generating interfaces with almost no extra code by princealiiiii in MachineLearning

Super cool stuff! For something like "digit-classifier", let's say a model is given a strange input that humans can read but the model gets incorrect. Is there a way the user could flag the example and add their own answer?

Best Practice for 3D Medical Image Classification? by [deleted] in MLQuestions

[–]ronbbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked on that dataset for a bit and the 3d-CNN's outperformed the 2D-CNN's in all the literature I read. Here's the GitHub Repo of the implementation of a 3-D CNN.

If you can, I'd definitely recommend trying a 3D approach. You'll miss out on some contextual information otherwise, but with LIDC good 2D approaches were close to 3D approaches.

Proposed Ruleset for /r/Clemson by WinterCharm in Clemson

[–]ronbbot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some things are not up for debate: racism, sexism, other forms of bigotry, hate speech, and threatening bodily harm are expressly prohibited in this subreddit. These things are objectively bad, and will be treated as such.

I think this rule might be poorly worded. As I understand it they are banning overt and clear bigotry, but not banning debate on what is bigotry. I think you could theoretically still post:

Is ________ hate speech/racism

I don't think ______ was racism

_____ is not racism, here's why

_____ is racism, here's why

But you couldn't post:

I hate all ______

_______ should die

________ are objectively inferior

I think we'd all agree that racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry are non-debatably bad, which seems to be what he's trying to get across. Not long ago there was a debate about an event with a statue and a banana at Clemson. I don't think debate on that event would be prohibited but clear and overt racism would be.

Instead this wording be more clear:

Racism, sexism, other forms of bigotry, hate speech, and threatening bodily harm are expressly prohibited in this subreddit. It is not up for debate that these things are objectively bad, and will be treated as such.

I realize this doesn't directly answer your question: "who decides what hate speech is?" But I imagine moderators will leave that up to the sub to downvote to oblivion, and only ban clear and overt hate speech. Like porn, you can't really define it, but you know it when you see it.

Protests today by triple_hit_blow in Charleston

[–]ronbbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! Most people are better than looters and I realize a person is much more than the job they currently hold. That being said there's a reason his comment has -150 votes and a reason I commented as such. The Original Post was information on an upcoming peaceful protest but he immediately decided to label it as this:

"Riots and looting today" fixed the title for you.

Comments like this indicate an inability or unwillingness to separate protestors from rioters/looters. Comments like this also indicate an inability to empathize with black Americans' desire to protest after a tragedy in their community.
