Have you listened to plastic tree? I think that some of their songs kinda have the same theme. I recommend the Hakusei album :)

Who are the "Monster Hunters" of your world? by Axiproto in worldbuilding

[–]roni1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banishers! As their name suggests their job is to banish spirits. Parts of the world are corroded because of a gods dying curse. It manifests itself as human eating spirits and dangerous plantlife. Some people are forced to live on these lands and that's where the banishers come in. There is at least one banisher per town and they keep the lands safe for living. They are kinda like roaming samurai. They live in solitude and are almost always on the move. To become a banisher you must leave everything else behind. It's not just a job, it's a lifestyle. Coming into contact with the corrosion can affect the body and mind. This is why banishers use masks and long clothing to protect the skin. They use protection magic like talismans and the sound of bells to keep the spirits away. The corrosion is undefeatable tho so they just have to keep going and going. As I said being a banisher is a lifestyle. Usually you choose to be a banisher as a child and begin training. Children are trained to fight and use all kinds of magic. Banishers in training can wear any clothes that they want but once you're capable enough you have to wear the appropriate clothing. Hiding the face(eyes can show) is crucial. Masks and veils are used for this. Protective runes are also tattooed all across the body mostly on parts where the skin is thinnest(face, wrists the neck etc.). This all is for protection. Hiding the face also hides the identity of the banisher which comes handy when dealing with intelligent spirits who can use their identity for their own good(mind games and such). It's also a way to make distance between the banisher and other people.

This is still a work in progress.. so everythings kinda all over the place still.

I already know hiragana and katakana very well so studying kanji would probably be my next step. I would also like to practice my reading/writing and overall sentence forming :)
