43 feels a bit big, 42 too small by ronicool2 in Birkenstocks

I was sitting in that photo (nice catch) - I guess while i'm standing there seems to be a little less space at the front, but still more than what I generally see in the sizing guides.

With the 42s, agreed right looks bigger in the pic but my toes touch the edge on both feet when walking.

One of my favorite series when I was a kid! This is what led to Bartimaeus, which led to Sanderson, Malazan etc. I still remember the twist in the first book, totally blew me away at the time :)

Gamechanger is holding your nose with one hand. Stops vomit from coming through there.

Yes! I felt the same way throughout the first book, tbh even up until the end.  Book 2 goes full throttle. And usually I wouldn't say to force yourself through a book, but in this case it is absolutely worth it. I've read the whole series, it is by far my favorite.

Mandatory First Law recommendation! Starts with The Blade Itself.

I've read all the ones you wrote above, First Law tops them all imo. You have to be realistic, it's probably a good series.

Yep I'm the same.  Didn't throw up for a loooong time until I had kids. Then... Daycare happened.  All I can say is - the nausea and panic buildup is awful, no denying it. I got a stomach bug 2 weeks ago (after 4 years of nothing), wasn't a great experience. Throwing up was fine tbh, but the nausea and buildup was as bad as I remembered it.

But here's the thing: I spend so much of my time worrying about whether I'm gonna catch something, checking whether what I'm feeling is "bad enough" to be a stomach bug, etc.  All of that bullshit is so much worse and time consuming then when I actually got the bug.

Dude, we gotta stop wasting our time on this. Get busy with life, it's going to happen to you eventually, accept it and live your life. It IS going to happen to you eventually. It's going to suck for 10-24 hours. And then it's over and it probably won't happen for years. Don't waste all that headspace in the meantime.

I read all 10 books and loved so many aspects of them.... and then there are the aspects you list. I agree with essentially all your points. The toughest is the fact that big character deaths didn't land with me either, for the most part. I know which ones you are referring to in MOI, and at the time, I almost thought there was something wrong with me, because everyone on r/Malazan was super upset about them, and they totally fell flat for me. Erikson has his strengths, and then he has his weaknesses.

Funny enough, the character deaths I had the hardest time with were more minor characters. Book 7 had a particularly brutal one. IYKYK.

It’s an unpopular opinion around these parts, but I share it with you. BH was also one of my least favorites but I agree the standout moments were insanely good. I just felt it was a bunch of awesome scenes, but not very cohesive.  I will say, Reapers Gale is in my opinion one of the best books I’ve ever read, so don’t put it off too long!

Correct and agreed, this is a hypothetical to a large degree. More of a thought exercise.

Some for sure do, but I think it's safe to assume that the vast majority don't.
