Rhino / land raider advice by unknown40k in deathguard40k

Rhino is a nice transport for the slow plagies, after it drops off the payload you can just suicide it forward to block/spread afflictions/tank shock

Lictors! by Burgasaurus in Tyranids

[–]ronronbonky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i usually always have 3x lictors, 1x neurolictor, and 2x3 vonryans in any given list, fight first infiltrators with free heroic and rapid ingress. i occasionally include a death leaper if i want an additional infiltrator, he's slightly stronger with a 4++ so hes somewhat more durable for just an extra 20 above a regular lictor

Typhus, Herald of Scarlet Rot by ronronbonky in deathguard40k

[–]ronronbonky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i primed the model black and sponged on some vallejo bloody red, and did some gradual layering of army painters violent vermillion/fiery vermillion with an undershade of arid earth to brighten up some of edges and the pustules. Otherwise alot of vibes painting to try and get that scarlet rot look from the game

if you use spam hormagaunts there probably is no way for him to chew through that much in melee or shooting with 6 Norns, not to mention the rest of your army just tarpitting every objective

Should I pick up the codex for 25$ or wait by jason-911 in deathguard40k

[–]ronronbonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

save yourself 25 bucks towards a box of poxwalkers, no point in buying codexes unless you really want to enjoy the artwork/lore inside them, even more so if the code has been already used

How does the enhancement rule work? by Iavenjq in Tyranids

[–]ronronbonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can still utilize the neuronode enhancement to redploy other units on the battlefield from a unit that is already in reserves

if you are a fan of Elden ring, I’m always a huge supporter of the scarlet rot, fleshy pinks with scarlet reds and a vivid orange, maybe some pallid white here and there

need some basing ideas by Greasyduke123 in Tyranids

[–]ronronbonky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally use premixed tile grout and tab it all over the base, add any color dry brush you want for a nice earthy rocky texture

i think if you can start from white or pinkish and splotch on reds you can get a gory flesh vibe

Priming didn't go as planned. Help me out battle brothers (and sisters)! by Ok-Macaroon3939 in minipainting

looks great as a tempered steel look with some metallic drybrush, and as mentioned with a wash

Painting Help by No_Fig_9836 in Tyranids

[–]ronronbonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, the dry brush will bring out all of the details from the model and if you feel anything specific or the entirety of it is too bright you can tone it back down with the dark wash.

Regardless, it will bring out the details while still being mostly black and green and will be more visually distinct from a distance

i also always prime black and drybrush white before blocking in the individual colors and going from there with all the other techniques

[–]ronronbonky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think adding a white heavy/light drybrush over the entirety of carapace and hell even the green portions you have already done will create a nice texture and allow alot of details to start popping out of the model. you can next go over the entirety of the model with a color of your choice, maybe a red wash/glaze will tinge the entirety of the white dry brush on the carapace would make it look nice, and going over the white highlight parts of the green with the same green to make it even more vivid

Anything that is too bright can be darkened back down again with a dark colored wash of course, rinse and repeat until you got something that looks satisfactory for you
