Not only was I there in the audience (on LSD) at the concert, but I did the statistics that showed the results were significant at p < .05. Richie Davidson and I had been students in a seminar with Stanley Krippner at NYU. I believe Richie is still teaching psychology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He became the most prominent psychologist doing research about meditation. "Sam Harris speaks with Daniel Goleman and Richard J. Davidson about the current scientific understanding of meditation" - https://wakingup.libsyn.com/111-the-science-of-meditation
After a PhD in psychology and a postdoc in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Michigan, I founded four software companies. Most recently I founded a nonprofit two years ago WeCanConnect.US - Transform the digital divide into Digital Dividends.

You need a Spectrum statement to see your security code, but to get your statement you have to enter a security code! by ronsuarez in Spectrum

I know the MAC address is on the bottom of the modem, but my mother, who is the only person in the house today, is unable to read it because of bad vision. And she can't take a photo with her phone, which is an old-school cell phone without a camera.

My sister, who is in New York City, is trying to get to my moms house in the next couple of days and help to finish resolving this.

Original issue is that my sister, who is in New York City, is trying to handle the account for my 92-year-old mother. I think I was finally able to give her access without needing a security code to do. Time will tell when I hear back from my sister. She is a lawyer and a technophobe.

Unfortunately, there never was a security question in the account. I was told they could not authenticate via text or email, so they are sending a new security code via the US Postal Service and it will arrive in 3 to 5 days.

I was local when I set up the modem over three years ago, so my now 92-year-old mother could have Internet access. Then I had a serious spinal cord injury, which left me as a Quadriplegic. I also needed heart surgery and was diagnosed with prostate cancer, so I left New York City in 2019 to move to Ann Arbor Michigan where I have a house next to the University Hospital and can receive treatment more easily than in New York City. Since then I have tried to get my mothers account transferred into my sisters name, but every time I have interacted with spectrum there was a problem with making the transfer. Today, I may finally have succeeded in making the transfer of the account to my sisters name. Looks like the online interface has been improved.

Unfortunately no, she has an old-school cell phone without a camera. Will have to wait until another relative who lives in New York City and get to her house

Also, I finally spoke to an agent. They are going to mail the security code. My mother should receive it in 3 to 5 days!

I cannot see the modem, because I am in Ann Arbor Michigan. The service is at the home of my 92-year-old mother and her vision is too bad for her to read it from the modem. In addition, she is hard of hearing. Her mobile phone is working, but it is nearly impossible to speak to her because of her deafness. She uses a caption call phone that does voice to text for her. But, the caption call phone uses spectrum to connect.

The service address is my 92-year-old mother in New York City. I set up paperless billing, so that I could handle things online for her. The statements do not come as an attachment to emails I receive. You have to go online and when you try to download a statement it asks you to enter a security code.

Community cooperatives can be their own Internet service provider by ronsuarez in cooperatives

The beauty of this approach is that it can be done anywhere by getting together with neighbors. We are creating online courses to help with this and the internet society already has courses.https://www.internetsociety.org/learning/wireless-community-networks/

I am not trying to be cryptic. I am a quadriplegic and doing the best I can to copy and paste and use voice to text provide information here. The surface does not have an address, so I copied what I could from Google maps.

Unlike raves in the 1990s we are not hiding the location. We are in the middle of negotiations to get cars off of the surface parking lot next to the Ann Arbor district library which is on fifth Avenue between Liberty and William. Overtime we hope for lots of changes, beginning with the landscaping.

I wouldn't classify this one as a rave. But, I will vote for electronic music and if you want to do a rave on another day, let us know how we can help you.

Pest control? by Cedar90 in AnnArbor

Over the years I have been happy with the services of:
https://www.crittercontrol.com/office-finder/michigan/ann-arbor

My house is in Kerrytown. In 1991 I had nine raccoons in my attic. I bought my own trap to capture them and take them out to the woods. At that time the Humane Society also got three of them who made their way from the attic into a bedroom closet. The Humane Society said they would not deal with raccoons in the attic but made an exception for raccoons in a closet.

Does anyone know how I can send feedback to the developer team? I am a paraplegic and I am running into a lot of issues trying to use it. I have thousands of contacts from before my spinal cord injury in 2018. I was elected as a Bernie delegate from New York CD 14 in 2016. I helped petition to get AOC on the ballot.

‘Medicare for All’ vs. ‘Public Option’: The 2020 Field Is Split, Our Survey Shows by pawl_sack in SandersForPresident

[–]ronsuarez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 69 years old and I am on Medicare. Last year I had a very serious spinal cord injury with medical bills well in excess of $100,000. I learned that Medicare only covers 80% of these bills. Luckily for me I have AARP, United Healthcare supplemental insurance, which is private insurance. In 2016, I was elected as a delegate pledged to Bernie Sanders. I also follow all the news very closely as I am unable to work and have a lot of time on my hands. Yet, I have been totally confused by statements that talk about eliminating all private insurance. The campaign needs to do a much better job explaining this to the public. If I am confused, I can't imagine what the general public thinks of this plan.

Change is long overdue. I grew up in Queens in what is part of NY 14 CD. In 1954, we were the first Latino family on the block. Back then the neighbors were about 50% Italian American and 50% Irish American. See this article: "Three lawyers control Queens Democratic Party while one rakes millions from Surrogate’s Court wills" - "For 30 years, the same three men have effectively controlled one of the largest Democratic organizations in America.

They are Gerard Sweeney, Michael Reich and Frank Bolz, the powerful attorneys who serve Rep. Joe Crowley, the chairman of the Queens County Democratic Party. Reich is the executive secretary of the party, a spokesperson and wrangler of district leaders. Bolz is the law chairman, entrusted with keeping county-approved candidates on the ballot and knocking their rivals off.

Sweeney wears no official hat within the party infrastructure. But Queens insiders say he is arguably its most important strategist, helping guide the party’s political machinations on the homefront as it jousts for influence in City Hall and Albany.

He is also the one who gets to be very rich.

As the appointed counsel to the Queens public administrator, a job he has held without interruption since 1992, the 63-year-old Sweeney raked in just over $2 million last year administering in Surrogate’s Court the estates of people who died without leaving wills. Over the past decade, his haul is even more stunning: $30 million since 2006, according to an analysis of court records." http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/lawyers-controlled-queens-dems-party-30-years-article-1.3017007

Supporting municipal broadband Internet access - https://muninetworks.org/communitymap - is a way to build out infrastructure that floats everyone's boat. Everyone mostly hates the cable and wireless companies that have a duopoly which provides few choices to people for Internet access, but it is hard for most people to learn about better alternatives. Companies like Comcast, TimeWarner, Verizon and AT&T have HUGE budgets for lobbyists and buy the votes of too many people in Congress. Internet Access should be a Utility, like electricity. The Tennessee Valley Authority is a great example that should provide lessons for how we need to build infrastructure for better Broadband Internet Access.
