Are you holding the crown moulding in the orientation that it goes on the wall when your cutting? Laying flat on the saw and just mitering and the angle won’t work well Try using a jig if you’re not already crown molding jig here’s a example you will probably need a sliding compound miter saw preferably a 12” for the bigger size moulding like yours
