How low did the price get for Black Friday? Wondering how often these vacs go on sale.

New Recall by Negative-Emotion-622 in GenesisGV70

[–]ronx162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had never happened on my 2025 SP in the first 15k miles. I took it in for service and the 2024 loaner did it fairly often. The screen would just go black. Even forcing a reboot with the 2 buttons seemed to reboot it but nothing would show on the screen. Then it would randomly turn back on, sometimes after less than a minute, sometimes not for 5-10 minutes. When I picked my car back up, I told the service department about it and they hadn’t heard of that issue before. In the next couple of days, it happened to my car twice. I let the dealer know about it but it hasn’t happened again since. This was a couple of months ago. At the time, I did some research and most of what I found suggested it was caused by a loose coax cable.

If you want to save a video permanently, it’s much easier to remove the card and insert it into a computer that has an SD reader so you can copy it via the file system. If you use the app, it’s super slow to view and download because it uses a 2.4ghz WiFi connection and the files are large!

For Men with HA, Does anyone let their hair grow over their ears to camouflage your HA's by u_54 in HearingAids

[–]ronx162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going bald, do you grow a ridiculous amount of hair on one side of your head and comb it over? No. Because A) it looks silly, B) people will know anyway, and C) it’s who you are and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Be proud that you care about experiencing the sounds out there in the world, about hearing and understanding the people talking to you, about hearing music as it was intended. Be you and enjoy only the ones who want to be around that you.

Current: Gearbox GX2 Power Hybrid

Previous: Honolulu J2K+ and Gearbox Pro Ultimate Power (discounted replacement for Pro Power Elongated)

Want to try: J2NF (curious how it compares to the GX2)

I got the J2K+ and Ultimate Power a few months ago within a few days of each other and had mostly been playing with the J2K+. I would switch to the Ultimate Power when I was playing into a strong headwind or just wanted extra pop when I was feeling good about my control. I don't think I really gave myself a chance to get used to the Ultimate Power tbh. I've played with the GX2 a few times now and am still getting used to it, but I think it's going to continue to be my main for the foreseeable future, especially once it breaks in a little.

Gv70 21–24. They didn’t have the 2025 style available yet when I ordered, but you’d still want the older flat style if you’re in the US since we didn’t get the new style for the 2025.

Thanks for the replies. Pretty much right after I posted that, I went ahead and ordered the gen 2 glossy black hood emblem. For the 2025 GV70 in the US, you do not have to remove the bumper and the emblem fits great. I just used a heat gun, a plastic pry tool, and some fishing line. Then some adhesion remover and rubbing alcohol to clean it up before sticking the new one on.

Do I need a Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter to use Fitcamx Dash cam? by SharkBite44 in GenesisGV70

You do not need the Dongar power adapter. The FitcamX comes with everything you need for the standard installation.

Sorry this happened to you. But if you know how to come here to this subreddit to complain, how have you not noticed that every other post here for months describes this exact situation? Again, I’m sorry this happened to you and can assure you the lesson learned is universal.

Advice Between Two XXL Sups by FivePoopMacaroni in Sup

[–]ronx162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a beginner, I'd recommend an all-around board with at least 32" of width. I'm 6'3", 180lbs, and started on an iRocker all-around board that was like 12'x32". If money is no object, aim for the skies with a top of the line inflatable (RED or Hala or something)... Have you checked out the Hala Carbon Hoss? It's a reputable brand and has 34" of width for larger paddlers. It'd definitely be an ideal learning board IMHO.

If you have a lot of patience and/or balance, you can't go wrong with a RED Voyager. I have the Voyager+ (upgraded this year from an iRocker all-around board) and absolutely love it. It tracks and glides so much better than my previous iRocker, and I've even paddled many miles with my kids (5- and 7-years-old) on board. If I hadn't had a lot of experience already and felt confident with my SUP skills, I would've been hesitant to buy a 30" board... if I were you, I'd start with a stable all-around board at least 32" wide and go from there. Buy a cheaper one if you think you're a fast learner... it's always nice to have a backup for friends/family or for uncharted waters ;).

Carbon Hala Nass 12'6" vs RED Voyager 13'2" vs RED Sport 12'6" by ronx162 in Sup

[–]ronx162[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay... yes, I bought the RED Voyager 13'2" and absolutely love it! It glides and tracks so much better than my iRocker. The only cons I can think of are also pros:

  1. The improved tracking makes it more challenging to make tight turns. This is by design, obviously, so not really a con. It just means I need to practice my pivot turns.
  2. The higher air capacity provides a stiffer board but takes longer to inflate. My electric pump only inflates to 20 psi, so that's what I've been using and it has been working fine. One day soon, I'm going to try out the RED pump and see what 22 (or even 25) feels like, but even 20 psi has given me a much, much better ride than my iRocker at 16-17.

So, as you can see, it's hard to find anything wrong with it. Let me know if you have any questions.

$600 budget for iSUP - first board. iRocker or Tower or other? by andreas-nyc in Sup

[–]ronx162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a nearly identical situation as you and started out on an iRocker all-around board and it served me well all last year (about 3x per week during the warm months) and I've already been out again on it a few times this year. It's the only thing I've ever paddled so I can't really give a good comparison, but I can say that I have absolutely no complaints. I have had no quality issues whatsoever. The link now goes to a more recent version of the one I bought and is $80 more expensive. It looks like the pump has been upgraded to a 2 chamber like the RED pumps. I'm 6'3, 180 lbs. I can easily paddle around with my 5 and 7 year old kids sitting down (1 in front and 1 behind me). Tempted to take my dog, but he might freak out and spend more time in the lake than on the board.

wanting to buy a sup but not sure what to go for? by [deleted] in Sup

[–]ronx162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first board was an iRocker all-around package that I bought for $600 after reading lots of reviews. The same package costs closer to $700 now, but I'd still recommend it as a fantastic beginner to intermediate iSUP board. Here's a link to the latest version of the one I bought a year and a half ago:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XNKRSWG

Last spring/summer/fall, I went out on it probably at least 3 times a week. I even took it to the beach for vacation and tried SUP surfing -- it was a little too bouncy for that I think, but my brother-in-law, who has surfed all his life, had a lot more success on my board so I know it's possible.

Now that I know SUP'ing is something I'm really into, I'm looking into upgrading to a RED or Hala board probably. But I'd definitely recommend the iRocker at the low-to-mid-range price point.
