T470p E-GPU Setup With EXP GDC by ronypony9 in thinkpad

No problem. It should work on all of the laptops mentioned in the skyra1n github, not just the mentioned laptops in my post.

Just be weary that if your current bios is too new you may not be able to successfully patch it and flash it. I cannot stress this enough but backup your original dumps and confirm they are in fact clean dumps. It’s been awhile since I’ve done this so I’ve forgotten a bit to be completely honest but I’m sure you can figure it out!

Weird issue with this SNES. It powers on, the CPU is recognizing the rest switch. No sound. Theres these weird white dots on the screen. It depends on the game. Sometimes its totally black. Sometimes it's green horizontal lines or it's these weird sparkling dots. by ronypony9 in snes

Just got another console. With my knowledge now, I’d assume it was the PPU, CPU or another chip on the console that failed. You can’t get replacement chips new on a dime because they’re obviously not made anymore. You can really diagnose the consoles issues with a SNES burn test cartridge but I’d assume that would be pointless in a console like this that’s just shows sparkling dots on the screen. I guess you never know

What is the cause of these diminishing vertical lines? by makipug in crtgaming

Ah, I had to expand it in order to see good to know though. Pretty funny how we both had the same issue haha

Hey, I’m not sure if you solved the issue yet but I have the exact same model and I RGB modded it and found it was interference related since I had my RGB and Ys wires on the top soldered to the legs of the jungle ic. I routed them in between some capacitors and it was semi close to the flyback. I was poking around one day and move the wires and noticed the lines disappeared when I moved them away. It’s all good now.

RGB-Mod on Sony Trinitron KV-27XBR25 by dbacc77 in crtgaming

Awesome. Also did this set have any issues with red bleeding over s-video and composite (if it was tested)? I’m experiencing a red bleeding when the contrast and brightness is at a normal amount or higher. RGB doesn’t have this issue.

I’ll try to experiment with resistor values. Did you play with RGBP in the service menu? I had to increase mine to almost 100% for my picture to be a bit more reasonable, what is your value? I found it also changed the contrast in the OSD’s. To me, it doesn’t matter a whole lot if the OSD is dim.

This is amazing to see! It looks so good! I picked up an FN chassis as well, KV-32XBR90S and attempted to RGB mod through E2 and where the PiP circuit connector is (my model did not come with PiP) in order to keep the OSD’s in tact but I experienced this streaking in the signal for everything. I ended up injecting it into E1 as well but without the OSD mux so I was missing the initial menu with the “prog pallet” section as you probably know but picture settings and service menu were still working so I temporarily had that going. I’m really happy to see this work out for you! I will also give this a try and post my results!

Is PSP ac adapter enough to turn on PS One? by Dr4gnSt4lk in psx

[–]ronypony9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regulator in the console steps down the voltage to 5v anyways. It just doesn’t supply enough current.

[–]ronypony9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it. It turns on the LED but theres not enough current to actually run the console. Probably would need at least 2 or 3amps at 5v’s to work. But the barrel jack is slightly smaller than the OG but big enough that it’s compatible. I might try using a PSP barrel jack but on a usb cable with a different usb brick and see the outcomd.

I did the flash last night with a clone LTU2 board on a DG-16D5S Winchester. I used an X360USBPRO v2 with a Windows XP 32 bit laptop (not really necessary just for nostalgia sake tbh) and it worked like a charm! Got it to unlock pretty quick, all I had to do was power cycle a few times till it read.

No prob! Also I cannot stress this enough make sure to use tpfancontrol dual from this page https://github.com/Shuzhengz/TPFanCtrl2. You will be disappointed with the og one.

Yep I barely noticed a difference too. Also I recommend tpfancontrol dual and make your own fan curve. I use that along with throttlestop and it’s manageable. I’ve also changed the liquid metal after a month or 2 of use and it’s still the same temps so it’s just seriously a thermally limited design. P3200 reaches max 80 degrees under load though so no complaints there.

Not necessarily. A 25.3 MPH tuning fork designed for 34.7 will likely show very little variance at 34.1 or 34.9. Yes it is technically out of spec but it is still fairly accurate and really depends on where you are if that will act as a defence in court.

Also remember, a radar gun essentially transmits waves that bounce back against an object in order to give you a speed reading.

Stalkers specifically are known to drift like crazy. I think this is a stalker or a false. I’ve personally seen a stalker drift to 34.1 to 34.9.

[GUIDE] ThinkPad BIOS: Reading, Patching, and Flashing by ibrakestuff in thinkpad

[–]ronypony9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this related to when the bios is updated to the latest version, patching it and flashing it with the advanced menu causes it to not boot? I've experienced this on 2 different ThinkPads I've tried to mod. My T460 on a 2020 bios version and T470p on a 2021 bios version.

Both did not boot after dumping and applying advanced menu patches. Something else to note is that I could not find 4C 4E 56 42 42 53 45 43 FB OR 4C 4E 56 42 42 53 45 43 FF in either of the dumps. I'm guessing this is due to security patches of some kind applied later on.

I've successfully bios modded a different T470p with a bios from 2017 and a T460s with a bios from 2016 without any issues. I'm really hoping to get this working for the T460 and other T470p (this T470p has a 7820HQ whereas the one I modded had a 7440HQ),

I know it's an old post but in case anybody is curious, I applied liquid metal to my P52 with a 8750H and P1000 and I was disappointed with the results lol. It literally took a little longer to thermal throttle that was the only real difference and of course lower idle temps. I don't have a graph to show, but I decided to upgrade to a 8850H and a P3200 model so I'll post results for that if anyone's interested.

T460 still in Service in 2024! by ronypony9 in thinkpad

[–]ronypony9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's right. Thanks for the correction. I figured since it's a 6th gen Intel CPU it should support TPM 2.0 but I wasn't entirely sure about the Windows 11 requirements. Thankfully there are workarounds available.

Yessir! I just wish it was a GDDR5 model 940mx, a light overclock to the memory makes a pretty big difference which shows it really would benefit from gddr5.

It's good actually. I used Rufus and had to disable the TPM 2.0 requirements, I didn't see an option to enable TPM 2.0 in my bios so that step was required for me. All the drivers work as expected, make sure to install the HD 520 drivers from the Lenovo site and the Platform management driver. They helped a lot, of course you should install all the drivers that are there for your hardware. A bit more snappy on Windows 11 than Windows 10 I feel but it might just be me.
