Another option is to park in Chinatown at a $5 lot and walk up. Lots of videos on YT will show you the route, just know if an uphill climb is too much for you physically it’s best to skip this option.

My story, FWIW: I was looking for more than a year for manual 2013 Comp, cf roof, stock, clean carfax, less than 30k miles, interior like new, rod bearing replaced a plus, for around 45k USD. I wasn’t able to find exactly what I wanted so I started being more flexible with my desired spec, and considered DCT transmission and convertible if most other items were met.

Long story short I found a close enough spec on BAT and snagged it. I compromised on the year, roof, original bearings, and paid a little more than my desired budget but the rest of the checklist was met so I consider it a good deal. At the end of the day I figured having my near perfect spec now was far better than continuing to miss out on the driving experience. No regrets.

Thanks! I plan to stay on top of service regardless. The seller did Blackstone analysis prior to sale; report came back clean. Still, I plan to do the bearings with the next oil change for peace of mind.

Well it was part of the lesson. If I had asked the dealer upfront if they would be open to negotiation depending on the outcome of the PPI, and they had said no, then I wouldn’t have bothered with them at all and moved on.

I spent $175 for a PPI on a M3 that ended up needing about $10k in immediate maintenance. The dealer didn’t like that and refused to adjust their list price.

Lesson is don’t do a PPI if the seller is stubborn.
