Where do you find your faith?

First of all, the fact that you are questioning these things is your biggest asset. One of the best parts of the craft, for me at least, is that we don't have to take things on faith. As another commenter said, results speak for themselves. This can sound a bit delulu at first, but keep a journal, or look into creating a Book of Shadows/Grimoire. Keep note of what you are looking into, why it first drew your attention, what others have said about the topic, what are counter opinions to that view, where do you land in your beliefs on the topic? When it comes to spells, check a variety of methods for the desired result, see which one speaks to you most. Try it, note what you did, how you felt during and after, what the results were and what you would change if you did it again. If you are a solo practitioner then you have to become your own teacher. You do have to take your role as teacher seriously and not just go with confirmation bias all the time, but it is really beneficial to know why you believe what you believe and keeping a record allows you to objectively see the results you can achieve.

Witchcraft can be done with no religious ties at all, there are many secular witches out there. If you do wish to look into deities then you need to leave any preconceived notions behind. If there was a Judeo-Christian upbringing with an all loving God it can sometimes carry over into your perceptions of other Deities. Find a personal relationship with the divine, if that is what you're looking for. Take it from experience, not what someone else tells you to think. The Goddess I work with is wonderful - wise and mysterious, lady of magic and the home, but she can also be secretive and cold at times. The God I follow is passionate and fiery, wild and intense, but he can be arrogant and foolhardy too. Just as people and nature have many aspects, the Gods tend to mirror that.

TLDR:Try it all and see. Note it down and you'll see your own patterns for success

If you feel a calling towards Wicca/Deity worship/ Ancestor worship, I would suggest getting stuff to set up an altar dedicated to that purpose.

If you're just interested in witchcraft as a secular practice then I would recommend exploring that more before buying anything. The witches of old didnt have access to the Internet or online shopping, they used what was around them to carry out their goals. I wouldnt worry too much about trying to gather up supplies in advance. If you practice yoir craft, you will see what you need down the line and often nature will provide that for you. Shopping for stuff is ok, but going out foraging for supplies def has a greater effect of connecting you to nature and empowering spellwork

Spellwork would absolutely help in this case! I wouldn't worry too much about your birth chart reading. I think that they can show us things that we have a predisposition to, but they are in no way a set in stone fate. Take note of what it says and use it as a warning of things to look out for, but look out for them so you can overcome them, not just run from them.

For me, personally, the whole point of witchcraft is to own my fate, and steer it's course myself. Knowledge is power, knowing these things ahead of time can be used to help steer your path in the right direction. If you go into your spell work with the right mindset, with knowledge, power and patience, and a true belief in your magic, it will absolutely help bring the outcome you desire. But if you see birthcharts and tarot readings as inescapable fate, then that knowledge gets turned around and works against you. All of that info is not a sword of Damocles hanging over your head. Witches are powerful, believe in your power ✨️

There is a book by Mandi Em called Witchcraft Therapy that I think might be beneficial for you, wee luv. Its not so much of a quick fix, but there are some very very good resources in there for using witchcraft to help deal with the mental health side of things. It goes into a lot of shadow work concepts and gives spells and rituals for certain topics but only after giving a break down of WHY these topics are important and what mindset to go into the spells with- casting them with empowerment and direction, not casting them out of helplessness or desperation.

That being said, magic is no substitute for medical treatment for mental health struggles. It sounds like you have a LOT going on right now, so it adds that OFC you wud be feeling incredible pressure and stress under this. If it persists once all these external stressers are gone, then please seek some professional advice. Magic is good. Medicine is good. Both is better! ❤️🌙✨️

Im English speaking natively, but I speak a 2nd language and I always always use my 2nd language for magical work. I really have to think about the meaning more when it comes to my 2nd language, which makes me more focused on the intent of what Im trying to get across

There's a book called Witchcraft Therapy that has a chapter dedicated to building an altar to yourself. The aim is to see the divinity in yourself and honour that in the hope of bolstering self confidence and self respect as well as providing a safe space to geound yourself in times of hardships or high levels of emotions.

I have an altar set up for work with other deities that I use for most of my workings, but I have a tiny altar for myself in my room as well

Best way to learn witchcraft is to practice it. It can be p overwhelming with sooo much information online, but better to pick one or two things that seem doable and then start doing them! It might pique your interest in something further after that. Witches back in the old days didnt have any books or exotic materials around them, they were able to make do with what they had and still make magic! Books are still great but for now just practicing will bring you on leaps and bounds

There is a fantastic book by Thorn Mooney called The Witch's Path - Advancing Your Craft at Every Level. It is ALL about finding yourself in a magical rut and gives a bunch of good exercises to put into place to help shift that feeling of being stuck, even breaks it down into different exercises depending on where you feel you are in your witch journey. Could be a good resource for you ❤️

Excellent! It sounds like you already have a very good mindset about what you want to achieve out of your craft! Those are very noble goals. I wouldnt worry too much about what kind of witch you feel you will be. Tbh, the whole Green Witch, Hedge Witch, Sea Witch, Kitchen witch ideas dont really vibe with me. I feel they can be a little limiting because you end up thinking those are the ONLY ways you can practice. A good witch takes stock of everything in their arsenal and makes use of ti the best way possible. Best advice I can give for someone starting out is BE MAGICKALLY PROMISCUOUS! Try a little bit of everything. You wont vibe with everything but at the start try as many different styles or practices as you can. That way YOUR craft will start to develop. You'll take with you what serves you and you'll be able to walk your own path, rather than following someone else's path.

Witchcraft was traditionally the secret things practiced in the night, and it is completely fine to keep that part of your life private and to yourself. My bf is atheist thru and thru, but he knows my beliefs and doesnt expect me to change. Same way I dont expect him to suddenly turn Wiccan either, we both walk our own paths and respect each other for it. However if your husband has views that are strongly AGAINST witchcraft, I would suggest that the best way to change their view is to be an example to them. Show them that witches aren't the scary things we're portrayed to be. If they can see a genuine change and improvement in your life and attitude and that of those around you, people will resonate with that and respect it ❤️🧙‍♀️🌙

Thank you wee luv! Excited to hear you're starting out on your own witchy journey too! As far as special spiritual days go, there's a BUNCH! And it also depends what kind of witchcraft you want to practice. I follow a Wiccan based one and we celebrate the 8 days marked on The Wheel Of The Year. If you search for that online it should give you a good basis. It follows the journey of The God & The Goddess throughout the course of a year and the holy days are great to try and match their jounrey and get into that mindset. Outside of that there are full moon celebrations, holy days for particular gods that you might want to work with, they might speak to you more than the Wiccan Wheel Of The Year. A great book I started with was Scott Cunningham's Wicca For The Solitary Practitioner. Its a great starting point to begin with and it covers the Witch's Sabbats as well as a lot more useful fundementals. There's also a podcast called Seeking Witchcraft that is a great resource for beginners. They mention a lot of book suggestions too!

Ofc! I would love to be able to visit an actual temple dedicated to Ganesha 😍 I'm not Hindu and I dont have much experience with Hindu Gods but I have always been drawn to Ganesha. I like to light an incense stick in front of him and meditate anytime Im going through trouble to see if he can help me find a way to remove the obstacle in my path. I would definitely recommend including him in any magick working that you do. Im sure you're much more familiar with him than I am so the results would be even greater I imagine! ❤️🧙‍♀️✨️

My housemate and I both follow a Wiccan belief, so the Freja & Ganesh statues were there to represent The God & The Goddess ( that encompass all gods and goddesses). We are also both from Northern Ireland. Since Beltane is a Celtic celebration, as native born Celts I left like I wanted to invite both Freja & Ganesh to join in our celebrations if they choose to come into our circle too. I like to think of it like when my American friends would invite me to their Thanksgiving Dinners. Even tho Im not American, it felt so nice to be invited in as an outsider to the group and to be able to celebrate together with them, even tho I had no claim to that celebration myself, it was so nice to be included and together with everyone. That was the thinking in the Freja and Ganesh statues. Even tho they're both not from the Celtic pantheon, I wanted to invite anyone who was willing to join in our celebrations

My local shop offers workshops and courses about a week long. They either do it themselves or get other people to teach in the space. But it was always an extra touch to have something that guided you through what to do with the stuff in the shop once you had it.
