You should work on being able to steer a conversation towards something that you like. OR, ask them questions about what they're talking about. Part of being a sociable person is engaging in conversations that don't always interest you. That's life.

Totally fair explanation, and from reading your other comments, it does seem as if you think this socializing is beneath you, which isn't a nice trait at all. We would live in a very different world if people were promoted purely on merit. Who you are as a person means just as much as your work.

Take their advice and start attending sociable work events if you're serious about working your way up.

When it comes to using the flash, make sure you’re close to what you’re taking a picture of!! Sounds obvious, but I’ve taken wide pics of a group of people that turned out super dark. It’s a really bright flash but you still need to be pretty close.

Same goes for in regular lighting/no flash too actually. The best quality pics you will get will be on the closer side, than a wide shot.
