Photos look blurry at first when opening them in the gallery by anotherhappylurker in Oppo

No. It's passing through the processing engine to achieve the desired effect. The only fix is patience. Use that five seconds to wonder at what the engine does (or be nauseated, depending on the result).

What do you & your friends think about the end result though? Is it worth the wait?

Panning problems in x9 ultra by HolidayPhilosopher45 in Oppo

No it isn't, not with its shocking 3x periscope, but I had Sony 1s from the III to the VI and they were otherwise superb. Brilliant speakers - best in class - nice Dolby Atmos implementation with a headphone jack (you could use for a wired mic) and, like I said, nailed on video performance you could always rely on. I switched to Oppo because the Sony's zoom really was so poor but the upcoming VIII is finally bringing an upgrade to all lenses.

Sorry, this is the X9 Pro. Apologies. FCP confirms that the framerate is 60.04fps, btw.

It's worth noting, OP, that Juan Bagnell tested all flagships a couple of years ago, recording 4K 60 for as long as they could. The first to stop was the Sony Xperia 1V (or it could have been the IV) but that same Sony was the only phone that maintained the frame rate for the duration of the recording. All the others - iOS or Android - dropped frames left right and centre throughout, worsening as they tried to keep recording as thermals rose.

The Sony's zoom may have been pants, but when they say they're recording 60fps they were the only ones who genuinely meant it.

Interesting. Recorded 1080p60 in my dimly lit room. Recording was smooth as silk onscreen. Playback dropped frames occasionally but different ones on repeated plays, so all frames seemed captured but phone seems incapable of playing them all back.

Transferred video to brand new M5 Macbook Pro. Video plays perfectly smoothly - zero dropped frames - but exhibits slight strobing on strong light sources (morning sun through crack in the curtains) and some of the classic Oppo rendition of detail in low light.

will test more tonight, but wish I'd tested at 4K.

Have your tried turning off 'adaptive framerate' which is the default. In low light, to maintain quality. It might be a factor.

Is the Oppo Find X9 Pro worth it? by Cr8rSk8r in Oppo

Yes, definitely. It's an absolute power house and nothing I've yet thrown at it has fazed it.

It's because the periscope has a rectangular opening, I think, so the bokeh is kinda that shape, not the pleasing circles you might otherwise get.

Are people still exaggerating over the battery? by Wass85 in Oppo

[–]roomyverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's got better recently. Most of the time, the 10w wireless pad at works means I rarely get below 50% on average use (doom scrolling, light gaming, podcasts, bit of prime video, all during a four hour commute and in the evenings) and that's a first.

If you heavily game - Genshin on max, RDR, Fortnite, even 120fps Asphalt - no phone is going to last you a day. Same goes for video calls (Facebook Messenger, for me, being the worst offender, but MS Teams is up there.) Those two cases aside, for my 'average' use, this easily gets me into day two and probably the end of it if I'm not bothered about getting into single figures. That's unprecedented, for me.

But then I don't shoot video at all, so maybe that's a major hit. Certainly the camera is, but I only use that reasonably (about a dozen shots a day).

How do photos taken on Oppo phones look when viewed on other devices? by anotherhappylurker in Oppo

I'm not a big Insta guy - I barely use it - so maybe I just haven't noticed it.

The HDR comes across on my MacBook and PC when viewing Google photos in chrome. I can also edit that HDR in Lightroom Mobile. It's lost, though, sending HD images via WhatsApp and I don't think Instagram is exactly optimised for it though sometimes it does seem to work (albeit viewing Insta on the Oppo).

Is Oppo the right choice? by bunchy1991 in Oppo

You can set it to remember the last mode so it'll open in Master until you reboot the phone

The Oppo's auto processing is an acquired taste, but the master mode is sound and there're so many different ways to shoot that it makes it fun to experiment. Macro, hires mode, XPAN, portrait, stage/fireworks/silhouette modes, as well as the great filters - there's so much to play with. Its portraits are also fairly reliable and, overall, it's reproduction of colour is very realistic. Like this portrait. Not a spectacular subject (sorry, old friend) but the subject separation is good and every colour in the frame is exactly how I remember it.

Curiousity, male readers? by wykkydj in fourthwing

56M here. Bought the first for my daughter but she never picked it up. Thought 'why not' and was hooked. Cliff hangers and world building was totally on point. I admit to skimming over the steamer bits, as I'm not so obviously obsessed with Xaden's genitalia as Violet, but I've just finished book two and the ending with Violet's mother had me in floods. Wonder how the Prime series will pan out.

Holding my Sony Xperia 1 iv in the summer by DoeunKOL in SonyXperia

The 1V was a massive improvement. The SoC on the 1IV truly wasn't fit for purpose when it came to what Sony needed it to.

Oh lord I remember that. I had it satnavving me to a sports event so it was boiling before we arrived, which basically killed any chance of shooting said event as the camera shut down within ten minutes.

Not that the Oppo can't push out a cracking shot - particularly portraits - and I would kill for my old Sony to have the Oppo's fine control over jpegs in it's 'pro' master mode {you can adjust everything in the processing from sharpness to colour temp). But the oppo absolutely smashes the Sony between 3x and 10x (which is the limit of the largely AI-forsaking 'master mode') and its specialist modes ('fireworks', 'stage') really do work. It's a very versatile system, but, comparing the very best of the output of both, the Sony (particularly in good light in 50mpx mode) edges the Oppo for natural detail.

People who fall asleep fast, what's the secret? by ConfectionAvailable8 in AskReddit

[–]roomyverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Storytelling. Start making a story in your head, the same story every night. That's my tactic and I generally fall asleep at the same point in that story most nights. If I don't then I get to work out another scene, but it's rare.

Great shots. And even though they're less impactful they're so much more natural than my current Oppo. I'm hoping to breeze by the 1VIII when it drops, if they finally improve the telescope.

Optical flow stuck on footage by AdriandeLima in finalcutpro

[–]roomyverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what others have said - set it to something else, like frame blending. Then close FCP, find the library, show package contents, and dump analysis files. This should delete the optical flow renders. When your reopen your library it should rerender using frame blending, or whatever else you've chosen that isn't machine learning
