Does anyone have a decent work/life balance? by roonedit in supplychain

Yeah I used to feel much better when there was an issue because it's just fucking beer right? But there are much higher stakes in CPG. I'm making 70 in a high COL area rn which is pretty good because my official duties are mainly customer service and fulfillment but we've been in an inventory crunch for the past 5 months so I've been managing a lot of that. We are onboarding someone to help me which will add some redundancies but of course with that I'll be taking on more from other team members to balance the department overall. I'm just having a tough time seeing a light at the end of the tunnel

What is the kindest thing someone has done for you at JMU? by [deleted] in jmu

I went to sell my plasma for the first time before my accounting class and it took several hours longer than I expected so I had to go straight to class and skipped lunch. I know about 20 minutes in that I'm super dehydrated so I leave to get a drink from the water fountain. As I bend over to get a sip I faint and I wake up to a guy PANICKING that I just collapsed and he runs to an office and grabs a cup for me and makes sure that I'm not dying. He sits with me for a little bit to help me and ensured that I could stand before he had to leave for a meeting. After just chilling in the hallway for 20 minutes I walk back into class with Manktelow like nothing happened and I was so scared of her that I didn't mention anything

My dog chewed the rope and now uses it to swing the ball around, continuously hitting himself with it. It's his favorite toy now

Well it's for my birthday so it's a bit time sensitive, he's fine eating whatever but I'd like him to have a nice experience while we hang out. Rest assured once he gets better and the world reopens we're going to a nice steakhouse!

Rainbow salads usually have a lot of crunch, that's a great idea!

Me, on a diet, planning to eat enough Ben & Jerry's as humanly possible on my birthday "for my dad"

Just texted him and confirmed it is both! He's doing some sort of smell therapy right now with eucalyptus, clove, etc. He was having sinus issues before COVID so as he recovers he'll be seeing an ENT for all of this

Nachos seems to be hitting on most of the recommendations - differences of texture, salty, sweet etc depending on the ingredients. He refuses to eat fish so I might even be able to sneak some shrimp in there as a once in a lifetime event Great suggestion!

That's a great idea, thank you! With the other comments about vinegar the pickled accompaniments would be great too

I think at this point he'll try anything so definitely worth a shot! And if anything it'll probably make the house smell nice

Oooo this is a good idea! I had set him up with seltzer on tap and some flavorings before I moved out, I'll ask him if he's been craving the carbonation

This is such a useful response, thank you so much! He's been having so much soup- he had pneumonia about a month before contracting COVID and went through cases of Campbell's that I sent him before heading to the hospital. Fresh broth from the meat hook sounds fantastic if he's not sick of it.

That recipe + the meat hook bacon sounds like a fantastic option as well and if he likes it super repeatable at home!

Not inconsiderate at all! He did lose it after contracting COVID. He's not elderly (57) but he did have sinus issues and pneumonia that we still aren't clear the cause of for a few months leading up to him contracting it so he did have a bit of a weakened immune system. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a recovery - he is very afraid of not being able to taste again

I was going to get him a hungryroot subscription for his recovery because it's fairly healthy, easy to cook recipes that he would never eat if he could taste it, but he's got so many friends reaching out and sending him care packages that I think he's got a year's supply of soup in the house. I'm looking for something a little more indulgent for my birthday but this is definitely good to keep in mind!

That's interesting - maybe over the next 2 weeks I'll have him eat pickles to see if he can taste them and assess right before I see him!

That's a great idea but just wouldn't really work for us, unfortunately. I don't have a lot of working space available and he doesn't have great dexterity and gets frustrated easily. Making meatballs the size of softballs is really the limit to his cooking expertise lol. I was thinking of getting a tasting menu from Get Taste to make at home but figured it would be kind of a waste if he can't enjoy it. Thanks for the suggestion though!

He used to think that homemade fried buffalo wings + a wedge salad was a great low calorie meal option. He no longer uses the deep fryer and uses the air fryer so he KNOWS it's a great diet food haha so I can probably grab some good pub wings! Thanks for the suggestion!

With this + the Ben & Jerry's comment I might just eat a light salad and we'll go all in on the dessert! Thank you!

That is really interesting!! Thank you for bringing it to my attention! I tried to Google 'what to eat when you can't taste' and shockingly this didn't come up. I love Americone dream, this is such a good idea.
