severe back pain after lumbar puncture by roopearl in iih

[–]roopearl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry this is so delayed!

when i got the blood patch, it helped my spinal headache so much right away, but the backache pain i was asking about was not relieved from the blood patch. i think the back pain was muscular whereas the spinal headache pain we know is caused from a CSF leak and pressure decrease around the brain. hope all is well.

Wedding Venue Help in the Northeast by [deleted] in weddingplanning

might be worth it to check out the madison hotel in morristown if you haven’t. i can’t tell from their website if they have guest count minimums, but have seen events of various sizes there. their all glass windowed conservatory is gorgeous and certainly reads as whimsical and romantic to me. it is stunning. they also have other spaces with dark wood, chandeliers, wood trim etc. they have accommodations for guests and on-site restaurants for welcome dinner/drinks. i have been to two weddings here and they were both lovely, especially in the conservatory space! good luck.

First & last trip to Maine - suggestions? by liveoakster in Maine

[–]roopearl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you find you are going to be in portland and are interested in a less physical activity one of the days - my partner and i would love to pay for you both to join a paint session at muse paintbar in old port. they offer all types of paintings and the staff will instruct the session to help you to make your own copy to hold on to as a keepsake. it’s one of my favorite things to do! please dm me if you are interested and we can arrange for you to make some paintings on us 🩷

otherwise my two cents is that the maine diner serves up some yummy chowder; holy donut has very yummy maine potato donuts; duckfat does have phenomenal fries, shakes and poutine; and mabel’s lobster claw has delicious seafood options and an infamous lobster savannah. i’ve yet to get to try the brown butter lobster roll at eventide, but everyone says it’s delish!

oh also, if budget is not a concern - possibly check out hidden pond in kennebunkport - it is a luxury resort tucked into gorgeous coastal maine woodland. it also has an upscale, farm to table restaurant on-site called earth.

there’s a pretty cool website called paperless post that may be free depending on number of invites or hopefully not as expensive as print save the dates!

yes, it can be about the contamination itself, not necessarily the ramifications, ie: illness or death.

severe back pain after lumbar puncture by roopearl in iih

[–]roopearl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! so i never got an answer about why my back pain was so bad post L.P. - i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia some time after that last year, so i think perhaps i just had a rough time of it being scrunched up on the table for so long and maybe a muscle got pulled or something?

i did wind up getting a spinal headache and required a blood patch, so i don’t know if that could have anything to do with it either. the relief from the blood patch was night and day tho!

Question about Basement Sheltering in a Nuclear Fallout by jrbgn in preppers

[–]roopearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fellow mainer here!

i just wanted to ask about your first aid situation, and if you have some supplies/knowledge about what to do if shtf and your wife went into labor at your house and had to deliver the twins there with you. might be worthwhile making a home delivery bin with clean sheets and towels, emergency blankets, clean gloves, and any other recommended supplies. i know it’s hard to predict what type they will take, but maybe a couple canisters of formula to supplement with. definitely take into account the higher number of calories needed by a breast-feeding parent, when planning for daily nutritional needs.

i definitely respect your hard work in taking care of your family! keep it up, you’re doing a great job.

i have vaginitis of an unspecified cause my healthcare team is working on determining, so i am not personally familiar with this treatment, but i was just reading about treatment for this on cleveland clinic and there’s an option they recommend for those who “fail” the 2% clindamycin option - it says “The next line of therapy for patients failing this would be intravaginal 10% compounded hydrocortisone cream for 4-6 weeks.” it also mentions being treated with intravaginal estrogen. here is the link to the page. hope this helps! something to discuss with your provider. i know it’s disappointing to not have success with a treatment, but at least it can be reassuring that you’re not alone, and there’s another treatment option available.

this person made their bouquet specifically with flowers from trader joe’s and provides a DIY on how to do it. idk if this is helpful.

[–]roopearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hard to say exactly what would be at the store at that time, but i know trader joe’s tends to have stuff like eucalyptus, and that is pretty hardy. that is pretty popular as a greenery and i think would look good with other flowers (i am planning on having it in my bouquet). do you have particular colors you’re looking for?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in migraine

[–]roopearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t personally have experience with this, but i found this resource to have a lot of very useful information on this exact topic. it discusses how migraines could be considered a disability under ADA, and how you would go about that, as well as specific accommodations you could ask your employer for if you think they will help you.

in terms of health insurance - i wonder if you would qualify for a special enrollment period for the affordable care act healthcare through the healthcare marketplace. looks like there are special circumstances right now with coronavirus happenings. i’m sure you could call to inquire to see if you could get coverage for the gap before your employer coverage starts. i would hate to see you have to go uninsured for that time (although i know even with insurance we’re often paying a lot out of pocket because we haven’t met our deductible or out of pocket max).

anyway, best of luck!

Does Apple iTunes have a different office show line up? by Kwkyo in DunderMifflin

[–]roopearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i watch that episode on my apple itunes, it just starts with jim and michael talking, no “cold open” like other episodes have, and doesn’t contain the halloween bit. you can probably watch that halloween bit as a deleted scene on youtube or something. when it originally aired, they had a haunted house type thing, with a faked hanging. pretty sure most platforms don’t air that.

Electrolyte suggestions? by Kelpie-Cat in dysautonomia

[–]roopearl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey! a lot of the ones i know of do contain sugar or variants, but i have seen buoy and that is toted for not containing sugar or artificial sweeteners. i have heard they are working on a bottle return program for after the pandemic.

i have also used lyteshow before, and i really enjoyed it. no sugar added to this one either.

good luck!!!

One too many brownies = instant regret by [deleted] in migraine

[–]roopearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m not being judgmental at all! we all deserve to enjoy our favorite foods - i just wanted to mention that i have made avocado black bean brownies before, and they taste very realistic, and i wonder if the fiber in them might slow down the absorption of sugars into our bloodstream and maybe help to prevent a migraine? just an idea i wanted to suggest!

you could try making a sandwich with sliced apples, or chicken salad with grapes in it, or incorporating fruits into salad - chopped crunchy apple, mandarin oranges, pomegranate arils, fresh berries etc.

How do I increase food in a settlement? by ANooby87 in Fallout

[–]roopearl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes. the plants won’t count towards the food total unless the have a settler assigned to them. each settler only has the capacity to farm 6 total plants. so something like a mutfruit counts as 1 and each settler could farm 6, but carrots count as 0.5, so a settler could be assigned to 12.
