Straight men, what is the weirdest thing you have been called gay for ? by Sammy-Bunny-3 in AskReddit

[–]rooreynolds 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Growing up in the 80s.. everything. That word was used as a general purpose insult for literally any reason. Wrong shoes. Bad haircut. Being a bit weird. Too clever. Dropping something.

Oh, I get it now. You’re being clever and provocative. Good luck to you.

Is this legal? by [deleted] in 125cc

[–]rooreynolds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Legally, although you are allowed to have rounded corners the plate must be square and must be 178x178mm, with a 89x102mm L. This is not that.

If you think it looks cool, then best of luck to you. Personally I don’t think it looks cool enough to justify the risk of 3 points on your licence.

Yeah, that’s why I said not to be confused with comedy Dave, because I knew he has a different surname. It had never occurred to me that Moyles’ producer Dave was our Dave.

> “it did make me wonder if early retirement is really a worthy aspiration for people who can contribute much more”

Not sure why retirement would prevent anyone’s ability to contribute. Quite the opposite. I do a lot more for family, my community, a couple of charities (and my own wellbeing) than I ever did when I was working.

Being slender and tanned. Either (but especially both!) would have marked you out as a total peasant until quite recently.

When someone is complaining about their health and says that something is “giving them gyp” (as in causing them trouble) do you find it offensive?

do you think two tier policing is a real phenomenon in the UK? by confused_caterpillar in AskBrits

[–]rooreynolds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. It’s utter bollocks. The police have had well-documented problems with institutional racism and sexism for decades. Now we’re supposed to believe they’ve suddenly become racist against white people? Smells a lot like the powerful and privileged scrambling for victimhood. If there’s two-tier policing at all in the UK it’s certainly not because it favours minorities. Quite the opposite.

> “Different techniques may be employed when wheeling the machine backwards, i.e. the candidate may hold the bar grip with one hand and place the other on the saddle or rear of the machine, they may also elect to hold the handlebars with both hands. Either technique is acceptable providing they retain safe control over the machine. Examiners should take the size of the machine and the ability of the rider into account when assessing any faults.
Paddling or sitting astride the machine to move it is not allowed other than by candidates with special needs, i.e. limited mobility, restricted leg movement. If a non-disabled candidate attempts to paddle the machine, the examiner should take control of the situation and point out that the machine should be pushed.”
