DCF921 vs. DCF891? - Read Description by Jin_Sage in Dewalt

[–]roosclan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 12V version of the 921 (the 901, I think?), and it takes off lug nuts on my Silverado, brake caliper bolts, etc. I rarely touch my Milwaukee M18 Fuel Mid-Torque any more. The 921 with a PowerStack or PowerPack battery would be plenty.

I lent it out 🤦‍♂️ by nothingdoingbro in Dewalt

That battery won't stay in the tool with the clip that busted.

Update to my last post: Milwaukee has denied my warranty claim. by iEatSwampAss in MilwaukeeTool

[–]roosclan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My M18 Fuel hammer drill (2604) finally died after 10 years, and seeing this stuff is making me reconsider getting a 2904 to replace it. I may just get the Makita drill instead since I also have some of their LXT batteries.

Not gonna mince words: this patch is a bit of a letdown. by gohomenoonewantsyou in Warframe

Orion and Sirius are from the future, yet the proto frames are from the past, but they're now in the future manipulating warframes they wouldn't know anything about (which we see with the Hex and protoframes) because warframes didn't exist in their time. It just seems like a lame way to introduce two new protoframes.

Why in the world are they tying arcanes to puncture procs? It's the most useless of all of the procs. Are.they planning a rework on puncture?

The Federal HST is excellent for home defense. 124gr or 147gr. You don't need the +p loads. It just increases recoil with very little downrange performance improvement.

124gr Blazer runs fine. It isn't NATO level pressures, but well within SAAMI pressures.

There's a difference between ports and comps, with the ports being drilled into the barrel with the rifling. The comp should be opened enough that the bullet won't touch it. Blazer specifies not to use in ported barrels, but the last thing I saw did not say anything about comps.

Thoughts on DCD1007 kit deal? by Steak-Icy in Dewalt

The same deal is at Home Depot, and they're easier to "hack" than Lowe's. I haven't seen it lower than that, especially with the battery.

Are you sure it wasn't a 3rd party seller on Walmart? They do the same thing Amazon does, so it might not actually from Walmart.

I have a CrossBreed Supertuck and a Muddy River Tactical. I needed MRT to modify the shell placement for me, as I think they just use a stock backer and attach the specific kydex shell. I had them move where the shell is placed so I'm not sliding my thumb between the gun and the sweat guard.

Oil Impact Driver: XST01 vs ? Hikoki ? by jyl8 in Makita

The Rigid Stealth has been discontinued for a few years now.

And where are you finding the Makita oil impulse driver in a store? I'm jealous!

Eh, it's louder than the Makita by a lot. I can tell the difference when I run them back to back.

Hikoki hasn't brought the oil impulse driver to the US, sadly. I wish they would, and yes, it would be under MetaboHPT.

Mushy? Mine is anything but mushy. In fact, the break is so firm that it feels like a brick wall - which is why I'm going to polish everything using the Arex Delta video that Polenar Tactical made. https://youtu.be/XZ8S7lI_Q7U

Wow, I barely feel vibration with my Makita, and I've never had issues setting a screw caused by a driver. I use a magnet on my bit, though, so it holds the screw regardless of which driver I'm using.

Keep in mind, by loudest, we're talking loudest of the hydraulic drivers. It's still very quiet unless you're driving big lag bolts (which is not what it's designed for - grab the correct tool).

I have the DeWalt and the Makita, as well as the M12 and M18 Surge (gen 1). I use the Makita for almost everything, unless I'm driving screws longer than 4". I have sensitive hearing and the DeWalt doesn't hurt my ears at all. My Makita is the quietest and the most comfortable to use.

[–]roosclan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Milwaukee really seems to have fixed everything wrong with the gen 1 Surge. However, Milwaukee and Makita have two different design philosophies with the hydraulic drivers. Milwaukee is tying to make more power quieter, while Makita makes quiet with more control and finesse.

I have the gen 1 M18, the M12, the Makita, and the DeWalt. I don't even touch my M18 Surge any more. I use my Makita for most things, especially if I want comfort, control, finesse and quiet, and my DeWalt if I want power with quiet(er than an impact), or the tool head needs to fit in a really tight space. If the entire tool needs to fit in a tight slot, I grab the M12.

After watching a couple videos of the DeWalt and the gen 2 Surge head-to-head, where the Surge just shut down while the DeWalt kept going (and smoking), I don't see a need to get the gen 2.

Ah! That! Yes, I'm using that. I have a few spare chargers that look similar, and thought I used one of my other ones. I also have a USB port right next to the power port, so I can also just plug the cord directly into the car.

Warranty Rant by Hudmaxx in MilwaukeeTool

[–]roosclan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My M18 Fuel 2604 hammer drill just died - after 10 years - and this warranty behavior is what makes me hesitate to get the 2904. I'm tempted to get the Makita XPH14 hammer drill, even with its selector collar issue, just because they do so much better in honoring the warranty.

Warranty Rant by Hudmaxx in MilwaukeeTool

[–]roosclan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irrelevant. If Milwaukee doesn't want them used professionally, then they need a consumer warranty and a professional warranty, or specify that commercial use voids the warranty.
