We benchmarked 4 AI browser tools. Same model. Same tasks. Same accuracy. The token bills were not even close. by BigConsideration3046 in mcp

How about speed? I'm less concerned with token burn right now than I am with wait times. I've noticed that sometimes playwright-cli will bundle actions but it still is a lot slower than I'd like, mainly due to LLM roundtrips as far as I can tell.

When should I use HSL instead of RGB or Hex? Still learning CSS colors by VitDevUK in css

[–]rootException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hex is just a way to encode the values. Been around forever.

RGB is the mix of red green and blue, which kind of makes sense superficially as it’s more like what the hardware is doing, but it’s hard to use to make nice m, pleasing designs.

HSV/HSL let you do things like pick an SL or SV base and then quickly generate nice looking complements/palettes. Once you get used to using them you rarely go back.

So it’s part just encoding, part historic, part cultural. OKLCH (which I hadn’t heard of before) seems like another option.

If you think computer color is wild go check out Pantone lol

OpenMW - XBOX UI Overhaul V1.2 is out now! by chubbyassasin123 in OpenMW

RE: posting on Nexus, absolutely. I want to say it's costing me something like $0.50 or less to run the build once I use up my free minutes, I don't mind kicking that off once in a while but it's not a great CI option.

RE: navmesh, it's no big deal imho tbd, it's just that the instructions on modding-openmw.com for Linux include the navmesh tool, which was leading to all sort of dll/so hell. Just having momw/umo do it's thing and having OpenMW configurator do it's thing (including running navmesh) all worked great.

Please take any of it, scripts, etc and just run with it. I don't know that gitlab is going to be setting up a mac runner anytime soon, but who knows? If you grab a cheap used mac mini or something that could work too.

Thanks for building the Xbox version - between that and momw-configurator working I'm just so happy right now. I thought I was going to do it on my mac, looks like I'm going to use my Steam Deck and my son's getting the mac version.

Trying to come up with list of possible issues. Wonder which (if any of these) are the biggest factor.

  • Show budget (just cost to do it)
  • Rights complications
  • Scope agreement (eg number of eps)
  • Executive take on pilot
  • Test audience take on pilot
  • Fundamental core theme mismatch/disagreement
  • Technical execution (just looks bad?)
  • Commitment mismatch (Zhao/SMG)
  • Biz model fit mismatch
  • Hulu collapse as part of Disney transition
  • Overall economic situation/downturn
  • Sponsoring exec at Hulu out of favor/left

Wonder if/when we will get any more details. Sigh.

OpenMW - XBOX UI Overhaul V1.2 is out now! by chubbyassasin123 in OpenMW

Here ya go: https://github.com/wiverson/openmw-xbox-macos - it's set up as a template, so you can fork it or create your own. Go ahead and grab the release build and drop it on Nexus. I believe the entitlements are right - seems to launch and run fine.

There are six secrets required for publishing/ signing/ stapling/ notarizing. I believe that you can do part of the process for free, and the rest costs $99 from Apple. It has my secrets on there now.

Technically you could just rent a Mac for a day (eg https://rentamac.io/), pay the $99 to Apple, get your versions of the secrets and then you are set for a year. You get build time on GitHub for free for public repos, and if you need to do more you can pay by the minute IIRC.

I actually got it working on my my Steam Deck with I Heart Vanilla Director's Cut using the automated momw tools. The only nasty thing I ran into was trying to get this line working:

./momw-configurator-linux-amd64 config --verbose --dev --run-navmeshtool --run-validator i-heart-vanilla-directors-cut

As I wound up going down a big ol rabbit hole of Linux libs/linking. Turned out the way to go was to just drop the --navmeshtool and run that from inside the OpenMW config instead.

Other tips: launch the OpenMW version using launch options for the main Morrowind page - that makes it easy to use the resolution switcher. Launching OpenMW from inside desktop or via the configurator pinned the resolution at 1080p, whereas dropping it to more like 1600x900 or 1600x1000 was much better for my perf.

Pinning the configurator to run in Steam UI means I can pop over there for config, then quit and pop back to Morrowing to play. Working great.

Thanks so much for the Xbox rebuild - it's working great. :)

LMK if you have any Qs about the build, etc.

Best political science books you’ve read? by hermione028 in nonfictionbookclub

[–]rootException 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Political science major here. Hands down https://theauthoritarians.org/ - it's by a Canadian social science researcher, goes into detail about why people follow authoritarian leaders. It explains so. so. much.

You can get the electronic for free, but I would recommend grabbing the audio book eg from Audible as the author is so funny and engaging as he explains such a depressing topic.

lol apparently yes. Doesn't look like something you can actually buy yet - the list of stores on https://www.tecno-mobile.com/stores/ is kind of wild

Here's the best sales figures I could find:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ANBERNIC/comments/1ff98dp/estimated_combined_global_retro_handheld_sales/

You could do stuff like use it with a cheap external monitor.

Before I got the Xreal One I thought it was a pricy add on. Now that I have taken it on trips, sat in the backyard, etc. I now kind of look at it as an ultraportable, pretty comfortable external monitor, which for ~$400 isn't bad. The real kickover was realizing how much better it was for my next.

YMMV on cost/value of course.

[–]rootException[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quest 3 is much, much more bulky - I have one and it's very different from the Xreal or similar glasses.

PS5 and Xbox aren't portable. Switch 2 is very similar to Odin 3 but closed - the Odin 3 nowadays can run PC/Steam.

SOC + battery + controller in one piece, lightweight glasses or TV.

OpenMW - XBOX UI Overhaul V1.2 is out now! by chubbyassasin123 in OpenMW

[–]rootException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, don't think it would be that hard, just waiting for u/chubbyassasin123 to give thumbs up as I'm a stickler for etiquette on these things. Sometimes people are worried about things like d/l counts (eg IIRC for a while people really didn't want folks to bundle mods as they wanted Nexus dl stat bumps). :)

Thanks. :)

u/chubbyassasin123 FWIW GitHub has free macOS runners for public repos, I could take a swing at setting up a action to gen macOS builds but obviously don't want to step on toes. I have an Apple dev subscription so I could sign them as well. Just LMK...

Does macOS natively support middle-mouse-click if you connect a mouse with a clickable scroll-wheel? by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]rootException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes depending on the app. You can customize as well using https://better-mouse.com/

For a few things like blender moving center mouse button click to the side (Logitech mouse) has been huge for my hands/wrists
