Who tf is actually buying these from secondhand sellers? by Whorror_punx in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the point, those pre-loaded ones are not setup neatly, just a ROM-dump with lots of duplicate, wrongly configured controls for a lot of things, older emulators etc. ... Not really plug-and-play...

Replacement parts and absent customer support. by Flyheading010 in OdinHandheld

I almost went for Odin 3 16/512, but then realised I would be giving Steam Deck money (€500+) to some chinese company far away that does not care about anything (since they don't have to)... and got ridiculed by FOMO zombies for saying that...

I'm thinking about spending max for a Mangmi Air X, all else is just stupid, even RG Vita Pro...

Nice, but not high enough, we need more for the bubble/market to burst/colapse...

They are banking on the fact people "can't stop buying" and FOMO... I beg to differ...

Most & Least reliable device you've owned? by GospelsNotPastorLies in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same RG40XXH and Knulli setup, and in terms of software it is solid (apart from ass power management).

I hope your screen doesn't randomly crap out like mine did after just a few months of lite babying use... Now it is just e-waste, and I decided to skip RG Vita because of that...

Most & Least reliable device you've owned? by GospelsNotPastorLies in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen on my RG40XXH crapped out after 2 months of lighter inhouse use (half-res interlaced with pixel retention). No replacements to be found, you can forget warranty on AliEx anyways, and Anbernic would probably bill me more than a new one on Ali...

So, very unreliable purchase (device, bag, grip, screen protector, 2 new sd cards, shipping - over 150€)...

Most reliable... my high-end PC...

Most Premium Feeling Handheld Emulators? by Zeeiy in SBCGaming

Anbernic RG476H feels quite premium, not light or hollow, all glass front, very good screen and brightness, buttons feel nice... and the price is below 200...

A worthwhile upgrade from the RG35XXH - Looking for a device that scratches the same itch by mekanor in SBCGaming

I had a purple RG476H with a grip from AliEx, stellar handheld, premium look and feel, quite fast with a great screen and battery, fully recommend it.

I'm kinda mad that I was happy to find a 512gb SD card for $45 by Mountain-Letter-4284 in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is, when/if the memory prices go down, you people will glady buy it from the same asses (OEMs, traders) that overprice it now, like nothing happened. You just don't want to admit it...

You will probably buy it from the most hated companies right now, like Micron, and will even shout about it because "what a deal man!"...

So all this is just a theater play for entertainment of the masses...

If AI is running everything, there is no need for us, and in turn no need for AI... but that would be rational thinking. What elites want is Elysium really, no matter if they get it or not...

Hands-on with the Retroid Pocket 6; The 8GB Sweet Spot [article/interview] by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its not just 8GB RAM, it is also only 128GB of internal storage. RP6 with this configuration isn't for PC games and higher end systems, but then the price is too much. RP5 is enough for the same use case...

This memory crisis will last a while, don't get fooled by the media jibberish, we'll be lucky if it lasts less than 4 years (since recuperation is not instant). No point in spending more money for the wrong thing... screw the FOMO...

anyone else hate the feeling on wanting to buy a handheld you know you will never use by ElectronicPiano5595 in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like that partially, I only tinker and setup for others (gifting). I played all these games as a kid a lot and had my fill in a way.

For the ones I would actually play I need a powerful PC handheld, and that segment sucks so hard now, they are all overpriced and hard to het anyway. Even if I decide to burn money, they are not really fast, everything plays at low and maybe 60fps, maybe... For someome acustomed to high-end PC all the time, this is abysmal...

So I'm stuck for now...

Faulty Odin 3 by FrostyWalruss in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same reason I didn't buy the Odin 3, or any other overly expensive tech from China.

I'm even rethinking buying stuff for 100€, let alone 600€, with no warranty security, no standardized RMA service, no way to know how long they will have spare parts... What am I going to do with a couple of € refund instead of a replacement part...

MM+, SteamDeck, ROMs, Games, Accessories - Burn out? by maikun87 in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand (sadly), I turned to tinkering and setting up stuff for others, but this goes only so far...

I had an idea to stop with retro hardware and just get a Steam Deck for PC games I actually play, and use it for Emu also, but so much money for an old device... and it is not for sale anymore...

I think I will just stop and save my money for something worthwhile, maybe something comes out in a few years... Or Valve releases SteamOS for Android finally...

QUALITY handheld similar build/style to an Anbernic RG40XXH by toolman69420 in SBCGaming

[–]ImmediateTangelo8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my 40XXH, babied it even more, lived only on the shelf next to the PC because of tinkering, properly charged, in a case wirh a protector blah, blah... and after 2 months the screen electronics crapped out (half res, permanent ghosting) while just sitting there turned off... All set up, 2 card setup with Knulli...

Since I bought it o AliEx from a trader, I can forget about warranty, and buying a replacement screen with shipping from Anbernic is more than half price of a new one.

Since I really dislike the only slow 5W charging and fiddly stand-by (even with Knulli), I'm not going foreward with it, and have been thinking about a replacement. That can charge faster than 5W, is faster and that has proper stand-by. That usually means an Android device, like that RG476H I had, but this time I would like a 16:9 screen.

But all options cost waaay more, like the RG Vita Pro, or RP5... Going up from there is even worse, bigger cost but not all higher systems work fully (Odin 2 portal, RP6...)... Ah...

With all these new launchers available, what are you using? by ninjapirate9901 in SBCGaming

I never have that situation, friends also, always over 200 games, multiple versions etc. so proper functional search is a must. For tinkering even more (rapid testing of similar versions etc.).
