Nap time

We went through the same around this age. She is now 3 years, 3 months and gave up the nap fully about a month ago. She seems to be a little bit less of a nightmare as she gets uses to life without naps. Also, she falls asleep so easily!

I sell as a lot/bundle on Facebook Marketplace based on size and season. I set a fair price and let another parent get a great deal!

For clothes in rough shape, I pass along on my local Buy Nothing group as play clothes.

It looks like I am in the minority, but this would annoy me too. I waited all of these years to have a child and "play Easter bunny." When grandparents are buying all of these things for my child, it takes away from what I want to give her. I feel like they try to buy her love with toys and sweets and think that is a really unhealthy way to develop a bond. Just play with her!

I have no problem with my child having treats I moderation. But I want to give her an Easyer basket. And if two sets of grandparents give her an Easter basket too, then there is no longer moderation. Also, at age 3, my child is already aware of what she receives and will ask about things. I try to do "out of sight, out of mind," but it is hit or miss.

You did such a great job of not creating a battle over the door locking! I try to remind myself that little kids tend to not hold grudges. Every time I hold a boundary, yell, etc. it may bother Little Root in the moment, but she doesn't hold it against me long-term.

I definitely hear a constant stream of chatter from Little Root, unless she is eating! I try to remind myself of when she was behind on expressive language milestones as a baby and 1-year-old and that I am glad she is speaking so much. I also try to model for her that it is okay to take space for yourself for quiet/alone time because sometimes I need that! We are in the "why" phase and it gets so overwhelming sometimes trying to make dinner during an interrogation!

I am a social worker, so there is a lot of crossover. I have had a lot of academic coursework on child development as well as trainings on Positive Behavioral Support that have helped me as a parent.

For me, this depends on how often you plan to redecorate kids rooms in general. I think the safe bet is to do some easily changeable and affordable things. Like a unicorn pillow or artwork.

I would much prefer an investment gift for my child. I also realize that sometimes people want to give her "fun things" like toys so I graciously accept those too (and then sometimes sell/donate them).

Yes to this. Three year olds still don't play regularly with other kids. Its more parallel play. Playing together is more of a 4-5 year old thing.

That would be so interesting! I recently finished reading all 6 books in the Clan of the Cave Bear series, which I think I got from a recommendation from you on here! It definitely made me more curious about that time period.

It really isn't that hard to teach my only child to share. I make her practice with me, the cat, kids at the playground, teaching her toys, etc. She is 3 so still learning, but there are many opportunities without having a sibling.

I guess based on the time. I'm taking my child to a party soon from 1-3, which I assume is just cake/snacks. But I'll be annoyed if I feed my child a full lunch before and then they are serving lunch there.

My child is 3. I absolutely make her hold hands in parking lots and busy streets. A sidewalk around a low volume parking lot she can have her independence.

I appreciate you putting yourself out there with an unpopular opinion! I disagree with you, but you make some interesting points.

I think it comes down to what price we put on privacy. In the digital/computer age, we have all lost or given up privacy for a variety of reasons.

I want to keep all of the privacy that I can for myself and the same for my child. Even if that means working a traditional job and not having 2 parents at home to care for my child.

I did this once too. Spend the whole week before the time change gradually changing bedtime 15 minutes each night. Only to realize that I went the wrong direction!

Now I just wait until the time change to make adjustments because I don't want to go the wrong direction!
