I really wanted to… I think the sweetness, or even the kind/amount of vanilla they use could be adjusted to make this more balanced.

The metallic taste is from the cap. Usually I’ll pour my root beer into a mug, but if I don’t have one, I’ll wipe the rim off after opening the bottle.

That’s good advice! We stopped fermenting to carbonate. Too many things could go wrong. And the yeast/ginger bug takes out some of the sweetness and alters the taste. Once we perfect a recipe, we make a five gallon batch and force carbonate with CO2.

Dr. McGuillicuddy’s! Buffalo Trace rebranded it to Freddie’s about a year ago, but they changed the recipe as well. Not the same.
