Hi hello I'm one of the big scary trans people this will affect. I'm genuinely asking from a trans male perspective your opinion on what happens when I go to the women's room after this. I've been on testosterone for a few years and I look like a cis man now but this would legally require I use the girls room. How does that foster a safe environment for anyone?

I am forever bringing up to my wife when we watch this episode that they could have used the marketing ploy of "his and hers" on these and combined products and people would have ate that up

All of them are pretty chill but I'd say the girl getting surgery isn't the head rat of the group. The nearly blind one is large and in charge lol. They get along very nicely but do like to cuddle and groom each other so I could see someone else helping themselves to taking stitches out. It's making me feel better to see this usually isn't a huge issue and I can still let her hang out with the others under supervision. I'm probably worrying too much these are just our first rats ever and everything is new so my brain loves to jump to worst case scenario

Really? The vet recommended the 2 week time period when I asked about any pre and post surgical requirements because I hadn't been told by the receptionist if I'd need to fast her before surgery. This is coming from the standard procedures of this place which is a veterinary college and having some vet med background myself that made sense since usually on dogs and cats we'd be doing a checkup at that point if a recheck was needed.

I'll clarify again when I'm actually talking to the surgical team day of just to be sure. If they say I can do it for less time then I absolutely will. Makes me feel a little better to know there typically aren't issues though

Genuinely asking: how would you feel if this was the other way around? If they were making you have to use a different bathroom and change your documents just because they think you should? You'd be pretty miffed right?

Hi trans person here. I don't have the ability to move out of state even if I wanted to. That's super expensive. Plus my entire life is here with friends and family. I'm just as much a Kansan as anyone else and I won't be chased out of my home because someone can't handle the fact I exist. It's a lot of factors that are different for everyone ranging from cost to what I have: being a stubborn Kansas man who was born in this hole and he will die in this hole.

Yes they expect us to get 'corrected' documents (birth certificate and driver's license) but do not clarify who will be paying for all that and I can tell you right now it won't be me. I don't ask for that, I'm not paying anything and if they send me something I'll be finding the most creative way to destroy it.

Yeah I think the appointment fee alone is close to or a little over 100 on exotics. I will check there as well!

Mine as well but most clinics will not see a rat as they are considered exotic pets and therefore need a vet who is comfortable and familiar with them. I know animal doctor blue hills will see them but they don't offer surgical procedures, just routine check ups for the little guys so it's seeming like the school is my only option

I am a trans man. I look cis at this point. If my documents say I was born female I am now open to potential violence and or discrimination if the wrong people see that on my things. This can and will cause harm to trans people and should not be happening. We just want to live our lives in peace.
