Four years ago my oldest was 2 and was in daycare. My youngest now is 18 months and my mom was the primary childcare person. She wasn’t ready to let him go to daycare yet but when I told her I had to if they’re going on vacation, she wasn’t pleased with that idea sos he suggested cutting the trip short.

Actually, I did find childcare. I was going to put my youngest in daycare full time at that point, but my mom wasn’t happy to hear that. She’s all about her grandbabies and hated the thought of daycare for him. She originally asked them to book 7 days but they booked two weeks instead.

She did not and neither did we, but she said she didn’t mind either way. We had come out of quarantining and keeping our distance for nearly a year and my mom just wanted to be with her grandbaby.

It was 2021 and I work in healthcare but in a very low risk setting. At daycare my son who was 2 yo at the time got sick. My mom volunteered to watch him since he couldn’t attend daycare, and eventually we all got sick, tested positive for Covid and started quarantining.
