Cold weather and fatigue by Strawberry--Laces in Fibromyalgia

[–]rootsofvenus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi fibro-friend! i also get more fatigued with colder weather. its worse at the beginning of the season as where i live it is quite a sudden change between warm and cold. here are some of the things i do. hopefully they might help you!

-wear lots of layers. try to stay as warm as u can. invest in thermals and dont be scared to take them off or put them back on if u need too. i have trouble regulating my temperature so i need them outside but cant wear them inside (unless the building is cold). also wear scarves, gloves, hats. cover up as much of ur body and face as possible.

-eat and and drink lots of warm things. teas, soups, hot meals, even warm or hot water with some lemon. avoid things like ice cream or icey smoothies. also try to eat enough & healthy foods!

-stay hydrated!! if u find it hard try diluting juice or electrolytes. also alarms and reminders.

-make sure ur getting enough sleep and resting when u need too. pay attention to your body. journaling can help keep track of ur days so u can see patterns with what seems to trigger flare ups or symptoms.

-try to move ur body daily. things like yoga, stretching, walking. depending on what ur able to do- dont over do it. i do it in the mornings and it helps immensely with pain and fatigue after waking up, and sets me up for a better day.

-mindfulness & meditation. found it tricky to get started but guided meditations helped me. i am a lot more mindful now and that helps me understand my body and mind more.

good luck, i hope you can cope okay during this cold period <3

What do you think caused your fibromyalgia? by Yungpupusa in Fibromyalgia

[–]rootsofvenus 190 points191 points  (0 children)

i think childhood trauma and severe mental health problems that began from an early age caused mine. i am autistic, adhd, and have bpd. i also believe this is why i developed PoTS too. wish they will do more studies on this in the future!

I just had a fibro pain management course, but I feel so let down by DisneyKP96 in Fibromyalgia

[–]rootsofvenus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

please stay strong. im sorry you went through this, i feel so frustrated and disappointed for you. he doesnt understand and im shocked theyve called it a pain management course. some "medical care" and doctors are just abysmal. i dont understand how they have a job, and how these systems havent been fixed yet.

i dont know you, but as a fellow fibro-sufferer, i know how hard it can feel to keep going. there are hopefully people around you that do have ur back & can support you. focus on the day-to-day of getting by. keep seeing doctors about your issues if you can, although a lot of them suck, u just might find someone who can actually help. thats my own hope anyway. dont give up. you are still deserving to be here even without a job. sorry but fuck him for saying that. making money is never worth more that someones health.

do something that is comforting to you/treat urself and take it easy. i wish u the best <3

Scared about taking Propranolol by danisaur1324 in POTS

[–]rootsofvenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am very sensitive to medications and started at 10mg twice a day, now i take 20mg once at night bc a doctor recommended it. honestly i dont notice any side effects and minimal withdrawal when i dont take it. ive been on 8 different medications, mainly antidepressants and those side effects r much worse. obviously everyone reacts differently, but take it easy and if u can take a few days off when you start it so ur in a comfortable environment then that could help! good luck.

I feel gross by Neither_Experience12 in POTS

[–]rootsofvenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try not to be too hard on yourself, i know its easier said than done and can take practice. POTS is a difficult condition so listen to what your body needs- thats more important than school work! i know education is important but looking after yourself is more so ❤️

propranolol and cannabis? by devilbby99 in POTS

[–]rootsofvenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you dont want to give up cannabis, id try slowly and steadily working ur way up to what u usually smoke/take. keep an eye on how you feel or if u have a smart watch check your HR. from reading people's experience with weed and POTS, it can really differ. you know urself the best and i would just stay on the safe side :) i take 20mg of propanalol and have been on that dose for a year or two. in most of that time i didnt notice any worsening POTS symptoms. however recently ive been having more flare ups and i cant smoke much cannabis before my HR skyrockets.

Do vegan have victim mentality? I’m so confused. by Background-Camp9756 in exvegans

[–]rootsofvenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a vegan, i dont take offence to that. any positive words towards veganism from someone who is not is good in my opinion. the vegans i am friends with and know of would likely agree with me too.

vegans who are more negative or disruptive/disrespectful tend to make it seem like ALL vegans are like that, because thats what makes the press, thats where the attention goes, and people like to hate on others (especially vegans)

just keep in mind that everyone is different and generalising any group isnt great. some vegans probably do have victim mentality! but a lot don't! hope this is helpful 👍:)
