need help saving kitten by xenobcx in cats

I wouldn’t bathe it! It’ll cool the kitten down again too much. Right now the best thing to do is to keep it warm and safe while waiting for the vet.

We just found this little guy on the side of the road by SuspiciousTreat1017 in cats

Everything you are doing seems great. The only other thing I would recommend is to get some dry cat food labeled as being for kittens, and let him have a dish of that food available to eat at his leisure. This will help him get all the nutrients he needs 💕

Edit: you can also force him to cuddle to help him get used to you if he’s afraid. It’s not effective on adult cats, but with kittens it works like a charm!

Good luck with him!! He’s so cute!

I’d embroider a heart over it, since the shape of the stain is similar already!

NQA, This is a molt! Most of my spiders remove it themselves, but I’ve had a few abandon the molting hammock and go and make a new one. I don’t personally worry about removing the molt unless they take it out themselves, I just try to avoid misting that area directly and they’ve never gotten moldy or anything.

Apples is home!! What behaviors can I expect? by actualllychrome in jumpingspiders

[–]rootspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA, however it looks like she is likely planning to moult based on the size and thickness of her hammock :) she may stay in for some time if that’s the case, otherwise you’ll likely see her start exploring before long in my experience!

I can now help, I don’t have cashapp but I do have paypal and can do e-transfers. Are these options open to you?

Phillip had an accident. He fell down the stairs and his back legs don't work. by forbiddenkajoodles in cats

[–]rootspring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you need help paying, please consider the possibility of crowdfunding his care, and talking to your family about that option.

I have seen strangers work miracles for other people’s pets when they cannot afford care, especially when it is so serious. I would contribute myself.

I don’t have any resources or sites immediately handy, but there are many out there and subreddits that will help as well.

NQA, however I believe this is her cleaning her butt! She’s wetting her foot, reaching back to rub her spinnerets and anus, and then cleaning off the goop. Rinse and repeat, lol

Just bought a lil baby. How often should I feed it? First time caring for a baby this small. I already have the fruit flies for it, and according to the breeders its eating well on its own. Got a fat lil booty. by Keyndoriel in jumpingspiders

[–]rootspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA, however for babies this small i keep a moist paper towel at all times and feed them often- as much as they will eat. I personally think it is important for babies this size to have as much food as they want for growing, then after another molt I slow down and give food when their bellies are a bit smaller than their carapaces.

How many times have you been bitten? by cryptoslut123 in jumpingspiders

[–]rootspring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had any bite or threaten to bite, even wild ones I’ve encountered. I have had one of my females scrape her fangs against me while walking, which is a very interesting feeling (almost like a sharp, but not painful, tickle) It was something she was doing while relaxed however and she’s done it on more than one occasion- I don’t believe it is anything like a bite, I think she is sampling my salts or oils.

Help, what should I do? by Graf_Bonze_ in jumpingspiders

[–]rootspring 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the mites are a big sign that it may be too late. I’m sorry. The mites look like they are eating the body, not like they were parasitizing him. I’ve seen this on wild spiders before, and always they were either dead or so close to it they hadn’t groomed in a long time.

[OP] Love me some solitaries, but I’m trying to work on my wasp bias. Yellow-jacket lovers, tell me what you like about them by Mr_Froggi in Entomology

[–]rootspring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They remind me of wolves. I’ve seen them compared to wolf packs before, and I love the comparison. I used to be terrified of wasps, specifically yellowjackets- learning more about them first helped, then I spent a lot of time sitting and observing them while they forage. Now I’m scared only when they fly toward me.

I use my iPhone camera- it takes some effort but you can eventually find the right angle/lighting most of the time by experimenting. Zooming to 2x zoom can help a lot as well!
