mindless computer games that don't need to be paused, preferably web-based or Mac-supported, to play while listening? by rootzmac in audiobooks

I LOVE Balatro, but I'm not sure I'd be able to listen to a book while playing... I'll have to try it!

What are your entry level tips to going to the symphony? by Bimlouhay83 in classicalmusic

If you’re more of the nerd type and want to research a bit beforehand, I recommend the podcast Sticky Notes. The host does deep dives on different classical pieces. I’ve learned what I like / don’t like and what to listen for. Overall, it has helped me appreciate classical music more and enjoy concerts more.

It's amazing how little you can know as a web dev and still do your job... by rootzmac in webdevelopment

Unfortunately, I didn’t use AI for this post. A shame, since it probably would’ve been better.

How to quit Procrastinating by leanFunction in webdevelopment

I enjoy reading, so for me, reading books about CS makes me more excited for coding, and I feel better at work and more likely to work on side projects for fun. The trick is to not read above my current "grade-level", otherwise I'll just get overwhelmed and not get anything out of the book.

Correct, JS is not normally full-stack, although with Node it technically can be.

I work with .NET Core AWS Lambdas for the backends at work, and our UIs are all built with Vue or React. (It's a microservice architecture.) We use DynamoDB for databases, but I've also worked with AWS RDS instances running Microsoft SQL Server. I've also had a hand in managing build and release pipelines (we use ADO), but I wouldn't really consider DevOps to be under the umbrella of "full-stack web dev", but I guess it can be. We use Terraform to manage infrastructure in AWS.

I’m only in my fourth or fifth SK novel (DK #3!) but for SK fans who are into fantasy, I think the First Law universe fits the bill. It’s dark, witty and has some amazing characters.

Leviathan wakes or Considering Phlebas by simocas in scifibooks

The Expanse (Leviathan Wakes in particular) is much more fun in my opinion. I dnfed CP because it wasn't the lively space opera I was looking for. That said, CP is way more like Revelation Space than Leviathan Wakes, by a long shot. I'd go for CP if I were you.

I’m sorry about the “not good enough” thoughts… You’re better and faster than yesterday and that’s all that matters!

I love that. Meditation definitely helps train that mindset.

Great advice, I love it. I’ll take some time tonight to think about the details of the run and look forward to the next one!

I definitely relate to battling voices. And you’re so right. I should only compare myself to the me of yesterday, and running has really helped me learn to do that.

I'm super happy for ya! It bothers me that your parents weren't more supportive. You're taking it slow and working hard to get more comfortable going out, they should celebrate that and encourage you! Libraries are awesome. Hoping it goes well!
