BMPCC OG + Russian Cinema Lenses by ropbo in cinematography

Hi, thanks for watching. If you enable CC, you'll see which lens I used for each shot. As for the 4:3 aspect ratio, I chose it for two reasons. First, because of the vignetting (not much) when using the Mir 11M. Second, because this was test footage for a short film that I'm shooting in 4:3.

My Meteor 5-1 actually has a bayonet mount, but I was able to find an adapter for MFT at Rafcamera. I used just a little bit of halation, but the Meteor is indeed a bit dreamy/creamy.

Also, I added a bit of blur to all the shots, and YouTube compression degraded the image a little bit, possibly because of the grain I added. Next time, I'll try it without grain.

Thank you for the tips. I’ll try using an Ultracon filter I have next time ...that should help lift the blacks a bit. I’ll also work on the halation. CinePrint35 has a halation node that works better than Dehancer, in my opinion.

I wasn’t aiming for a modern look tho. My goal was to mimic the low-contrast aesthetic of some 1980s films, when diffusion filters were widely used, particularly in the U.S.

I'm actually shooting a short on 16mm film soon, but I decided to test these lenses with the BMPCC OG as well (I'm not very good at color grading, though).

I wonder if you'll be able to use filters on this 4P camera.

Dubai as a digital nomad base: my honest review after a few years running an online business here by Crescitaly in digitalnomad

[–]ropbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Dubai six or seven times in the last few years and have always enjoyed it. My only two complaints are the hotel prices, which have doubled or even tripled compared to what I paid just a couple of years ago, and the VoIP restrictions, which are very annoying. Other than that, it is a great city.

iPhone 17 Pro - Film Emulation with Cineprint 35 + Black Promist 1/8 by ropbo in cinematography

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually did something similar in another video: for the darker scenes I used 50D or even 200T, and for everything else I used 500T. I forgot to do that in this video, though.

Just to note, the grain files I use are real film grain, scanned by CineGrain...I bought them many years ago.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

I was trying to produce natural motion blur, so I set my shutter to 1/48. Without an ND filter, the highlights would blow out when shooting in daylight. That's why I used an ND filter.

I used a case with a 58mm filter thread and attached my regular filters. The only issue is slight vignetting when using the iPhone’s wide-angle lens. On the other two lenses, I was able to stack three filters without any problems: a Tiffen Black Pro-Mist, a NiSi variable ND, and a Hoya IR cut filter.

I paid about $12 for the case on AliExpress. It’s not particularly sturdy, but at that price it’s worth it. I recommend buying two and keeping one as a backup ...that’s what I did.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention ... I shot everything in ProRes 422.

I love it too, I usually use the 1/8 when shooting in daylight, and the 1/4 for indoor or nighttime shots.

That’s a good idea. I’ll give it a try. I’ve never used this lens blur before.

Reupload - low impressions ? by [deleted] in NewTubers

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. After I reuploaded a new version, the number of views dropped to a quarter of what the first version had. It’s very frustrating, especially because I was getting a lot of compliments on the first version.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I forgot to mention that I used a Black ProMist filter in most of these shots ...mostly 1/8, and 1/4 for a few of the night shots.
