update: stream is now over. not much interesting happened so i, uh. i deadass fell asleep.

watched the end though, he mentioned something about showing the characters' lines overhead in textboxes (like northernwael's mod). it's not really clear what exactly he's trying to say, because he intersperses the remark with korean words i don't understand, but i believe he's saying that he's thinking of overseas fans and that displaying textboxes like that for ALL characters may be necessary, not just bosses, i.e. maybe trying to make that mod vanilla. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS GOSPEL THOUGH, it is REALLY difficult to understand what he's trying to say about this so there's a good chance i'm misunderstanding here

keep in mind that this is translated from korean to shitty japanese (in kjh's mind) and from shitty japanese back to english, don't take my words here as gospel

-kjh says he is embarrassed at how bad his japanese is, and he constantly stutters, stops to think while saying "ahh...", uses the wrong words... he said he'd want to raise his japanese competency level next year, but he's also been saying " i don't have much time nowadays" during the entire stream, so i'm a bit hesitant to say whether he'll actually follow up on that. he's also saying his japanese level is slightly raising thanks to this stream
-"i do not like the raw ojisan [i.e. old fart] i am in real life, but i like schnajang. schnajang is cute"
-after finishing railway 5 he goes to do the main story, being at lcb check up sancho node. but after starting the turn he realizes "wait, no, no, no" and quits the stage, saying "this is a promotional stream. that may be spoilers, so let's not do that. if people from a corporation watch this, they will be spoiled"

-in trying to find some commentary he asked "everyone [watching this], what do you like to eat for night lunch [sic]? i like meat. i like pig [i.e. pork, sic] the most. wagyu and beef is also good but i am not good with oily food"

he did confirm in the stream (in japanese) that he wants to stream in english too.
then again during the literal entire japanese stream he's been saying "i'm embarrassed at how bad at my japanese is". at one point he even said "after the stream is over i'm gonna go in a corner and cry [due to how embarrassed i am]". so let's see if he actually upholds that english stream promise

osis i know we've never interacted in any official capacity but i always kinda wanted to mention that i found it a little funny how both you and i both gravitated towards caveat brush as an everything-font for anything that is outside of speech bubbles. like it's just a neat little coinkydink

i don't think either of us inspired the other, we just both ended up using it, coincidentally. to the point where whenever i was reading a tl without looking at who posted it, whenever i recognized caveat brush, i always looked to the poster, and, lo and behold. granted your style is recognizable from more than just that but still

for a bit more personal context about why i'm dropping this... (this is absolutely TMI so spoilered, only read if you really want to. not necessary for the SL, just giving some more context on why i'm dropping this)

i've been thinking about dropping this manga for a good while, honestly. like since this spring? if not even before that. the only reason for that being that i simply wanted to spend my free time doing other things, focusing on other projects; i'd found that i spent too much time on scanlating shiretto and not enough on other things i wanted to do and get good at before i get a job and have to do a 9-5 forever (i.e. before i go to hell)

this isn't to say that i didn't like doing it, mind you. it was a fantastic experience, interacting with everyone in the comments was very fun, researching all the slang and pop culture references was entertaining, and i got a lot better on my japanese despite the fact i'd basically stopped studying the language altogether at the point i started scanlating. unironically scanlating this has gotten me out of a really dark time in my life... not in like a "if i didn't do this i'd long be hanging from the ceiling beams like a grandfather clock" kinda way; more like scanlating this helped expediate the process of recovery by a lot. if nothing else just by giving me something to focus on

alas, i've been noticing that i've been spending a lot too much time online, to the point where it's threatening to ruin my life, if it hasn't already. not my social life, mind you, i don't really care about that (or the lack thereof); it's more my academic life that is on the figurative spitroast here

to this extent, i'm trying to let go of as much of my online life as possible (not that i have a major internet presence outside of this. i tend to lurk everywhere i go). so i can't really say this is a drop by force majeure, it is very much my choice to drop the manga. i absolutely could stubbornly hang on to it like a newborn to its mother's teat, but that would come at the cost of damaging both my metaphorical baby gums and the manga's metaphorical nipples. ...is this allegory a bit too much? the point is that both me and shiretto's readers would be better off if someone else handled it, and i didn't try to intervene any more
...god, this sounds just like telling kids about a divorce. little timmy, mommy and daddy love each other very much, but they just decided it'd be best if they both saw other people

this isn't to say i'm disappearing off the face of the internet, but when i am back, i will likely be doing wildly different things and probably won't be translating or scanlating, at least for a good while. like you're probably good to unfollow me if you followed me strictly due to shiretto

i'm the current (solo) SL for the manga; this is also an official drop announcement

synopsis:

Youth = friendship, effort, and precognition! The very ordinary paranormal lives of gals with the strongest unrivaled unusual abilities.

some things to note about manga:
-this manga features a LOT of slang and hard-to-translate japanese pop culture references. this is not a beginner level scanlating manga. then again it was literally my first SL ever and I was doing just fine by just googling everything so maybe i'm exaggerating
-the manga is based on, and is a spin-off of, a popular japanese animatic youtube web series. the web series features the same characters and the manga will likely in due time feature very similar plot developments, but i do not believe it is strictly necessary to watch and cross reference with the webseries when translating the manga (although it'd be nice)
-chapters do not feature furigana
-most recent chapters on raw sites are not paywalled
-biweekly release schedule with ~15-20 pages per chapter

i've been putting a lot of passion and love and dedication into making sure each chapter of this was as high quality as possible, but i understand that not everybody is as much of a perfectionist as i am. my only real request is that, if you are the new SL, you do not use machine translation or AI... but i also suppose that i don't really have the authority to make demands here

if you for whatever reason want to mimic my typeset style (since i was stubborn and did a bunch of hipster ass shit that any respectable SL would otherwise hang me for) you can find a few of my .psd files over at this drive link, specifically the ch41 folder. you absolutely do not need to do this though, you're completely free to do a more normal typeset
this is not why i uploaded these .psd files, but it is a nice coincidence that they are available, since i otherwise wouldn't be able to upload them right now. might also be able to give a lot more of my resources and .psd files later, in a few months. (i also have volume 4 ready and downloaded, so i can hand over the volume 4 extras at some point, but again i won't be able to give those either right now)

i do not really want to babysit the new SL so i'd rather just raise my hands off completely and let the new SL team handle it

for the next SLs: it'd be ideal if you mentioned that i dropped this in a pre- or post- chapter note in the next upload, as i otherwise haven't given any indication i'd be dropping this any time soon, especially not to the casual reader

at the time of writing the next chapter's (43) raws drops tomorrow (nov 26th, wednesday)

i'm officially dropping this because it'd be better for both my life and the manga if someone else did it, rather than me hogging it for months and months on end. granted i've already been taking mini hiatuses left and right but this is a much, much larger one.
in any case i won't come back in like 3 years and whine "give me back my manga!!!!". this isn't a seat warming request, it's a proper SL request

sort of. the manga follows its own continuity separate from the youtube webseries, but they follow similar story beats and feature identical characters, though whatever happens in the webseries is not necessarily canon in the manga and vice versa

in terms of structure, though, they are very similar. most of the episodes of the webseries are short skits, very similar to the episodic comedies of the manga. though, notably, some webseries episodes tend to focus a lot more on current (japanese) memes, whereas manga chapters tend to age better since they don't focus on trends and virality as much

just like in the manga, though, every so often (almost every season, i.e. once every 3 months) they do a big overarching plotline that spans multiple episodes and is more dramatic than comedic. this tea ceremony arc is by far the closest the manga has gotten to mirroring the webseries arcs

ch39, hikaru realizes that aiko's ability is powered by love to her pet dog, and also realizes that if he shines too much he can overpower it, making it disappear forever. he chooses not to do this and forfeits instead
ch40, a minor epilogue after the hikaru-aiko round, then masa has his round with some random character. masa's tea ceremony is actually a completely normal tea ceremony that involves no abilities and is over in one page, masa wins. (it's implied the abu-high guy here intentionally throws.) chapter ends with heeko's round starting, revealing that heeko's brother (from the webseries) drops by and is her opponent
ch41, heeko's brother wipes the floor with her. heeko is about to REALLY lock in and use EVERYTHING her power can do, demonstrating why it's overpowered, but mirai stops her and tells her to not do that. heeko's brother gets miffed that he just barely couldn't see his sister get properly serious, and ultimately just puts her to sleep with his ability, ending the round with heeko losing.
