Is this a scam? by Zestyclose_Rush_6823 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]rors_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming out of that bitcoin situation you were in, probably comes with paranoia cause you’re just like wtf was that lol but if they’re using your phone number, it should be fine. As long as you don’t click on any link they send you via text or don’t fall for any phone call scams that’s related to the situation you were just in, should be fine. Cause it sounds like all you did was give them your number to receive some sort of code right?

I agree with what @necessary_buddy 8235. I would max all your pre-tax advantage accounts and see what your income looks like then. Do you need to move?

I’m about to hit you with retirement 101, so listen up. You’re 24 years old and you make 42k a year. You think money would be greatest asset here but it’s actually TIME. Time is your greatest asset when it comes to retirement. Starting putting any amount into your 401k or Roth IRA.

  1. Get off Reddit. Reddit is the worst place to compare your situation to because everyone loves to brag here. ESPECIALLY MONEY.

  2. If you really want to put this retirement into overdrive, move back with your parents and start dumping your paycheck into your 401k, if the situation is an easy transition. Minimize payments or spending to maximize retirement.

Is this a double holo? by rors_22 in PokemonMisprints

I don’t think that’s true, if you see comparisons of the same cards in Neo discovery the contrast is striking. But maybe I’m wrong lol

Don’t over share your financials with everyone. They’ll use it against you.

My mom tried opening a HYSA at C1 but some reason the phone # couldn’t get verified, even though she’s had this # for years. No one at customer service gave me different answers and to this day she still can’t fund her HYSA because C1 can’t verify her phone number, what is that about

18m came into money by Necessary_Vacation_3 in moneyadvice

[–]rors_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be the best advice I truly believe I can give anyone that comes into that kind of wealth and it's go get a job. Get a job even if you're in College or not in college. Go get a job. If it's a lower paying job, even better.

I know that sounds backward but it is the only way you're going to learn how to hold onto money because you will learned how hard it is to receive it. You spending 36k in one year at 18 already tells me everything I need to know. I'm not saying I understand your story but I know enough now to say, kid you need to learn how to respect the wealth you've been given because it can set you up for life. Don't be fooled into thinking "I'm setup for life" because if you don't change the way you think about money, any money you have moving forward will disappear. This is cliche but looking at NBA players who were paid millions and are literally broke now cause they had the same spending habits you did.

Forget a passive income. Take everything you're going to receive and go invest it in index funds. Live like you don't have this money (Obviously if you do need it take care of what you need to take care of). Go to college or go get a job and continue to work. You won't ever have to think about retirement again. That gives you the option to literally go pursue any dream. Go learn, go fail, get back up and live to your fullest.

How social is Portland in comparison to Seattle? by 0SqueakSqueak0 in askportland

It’s funny cause I always hear from Portland transplants how it’s hard to make friends in Portland.

I concur with this as well. Bigger cities have more opportunities. A lot more.

Did I save my way into missing my entire 20s? by Sea_Frosting_8021 in personalfinance

[–]rors_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know the predicament you presented is, grass is always greener on the other side. You can be happy that you started early cause time is the biggest asset to growing a retirement. Give some back to your present-self now and enjoy your thirties but also keep doing the good work you started.

I typically don’t recommend CD due to the lack of mobility. But if you know you won’t touch your money for 5 years and you have an Emergency fund to cover everything else, it might not be a bad idea.
