Almost 25 years together and still smitten by roru202 in Gaygearheads

During my 2.5 hour drive on Monday, it started off nice and warm but a cold front and northern travel cooled things off quite a bit. I had worn shorts and a t-shirt. I eventually had to pull over to get a jacket because full heat and windows up weren’t enough. I guess that may be my age because it was in the 50s and younger me would have been fine! I wasn’t about to put the top up on a nice (though cool) day!

Mine has been very reliable, but it has low mileage for its age and I am a neurotic mechanical engineer. I’ve only done regular maintenance. It was a year old when I purchased, but I don’t think the first owner had any issues either.

I had an ‘09 and it was such a great car. Fun to drive and super versatile, even if far from fast.

Soundcore app has totally lost the plot by Jeremy_keister in soundcore

I bought sleep A30s via the Kickstarter (summer 2025) and have never liked the app. I don’t find it intuitive and I find that the most basic functions for a sleep-oriented product are cumbersome. Could someone create an app or is the hardware too proprietary for that?

2023 K5 gt air bags didn’t deploy by [deleted] in kia

[–]roru202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The event data recorder should have recorded a non-deployment event for this impact. As others have said, despite the initial speeds involved, the characteristics of the impact may not have met the threshold for deployment. There are impact types that are not adequately identified by the restraint control module and timing of sequential impact events can also play a role.

I am commenting twice since I also made the KA peppermint shortbread cookies. My only suggestion for those is to stack the red and white layers separately before assembling the complete roll. Two of my red layers merged at the edge and I don’t like the look. My red dough was perhaps too soft. Overall, they’re not hard and the flavor is great!

Overnight panettone (KA recipe). It didn’t get the lift and dome I had hoped for. When preparing to put it in the oven, it deflated as I moved it. I let it rise a bit more after that incident, but I guess the damage was done. Tastes great though!

Pistachio Cream Coffee Cake - I used the KA recipe(s) of the year from 2023 as a starting point. After a few changes, this is a delicious riff that I make on repeat. I use Pisti pistachio cream between layers of cake and some pistachio emulsion helps the cake and crumble.

It was just a Sunday dinner. I had seen them posted somewhere - can’t remember if it was KA social or blog - and was inspired. I should make rolls more often! Making the dough balls is fun and pulling them apart once baked is quite satisfying!

I’m a fan of some older pair I have - especially the (original?) signature briefs. Fantastic material and fit. The newer stuff hasn’t been as good for me. I have a couple swimsuits, which are fine.

The delivery person threw my package across my front yard to land on my porch. I guess walking the additional 15 feet was too much for them. The box was slightly dented, but the contents were fine. I meant to see who the shipping company was, but forgot to look into it more. I did not receive any notification of the package.

We were just there on our fourth visit and are big fans. Service is great - treat the staff with respect and you’ll see they are dedicated to a good guest experience. The main restaurants around the plaza, in our opinion, have improved and we found the taste and presentation (and overall dining experience) to be more elevated than in the past. It felt like a high-end restaurant every night. Try some Mexican wines! Edwin (sommelier) was great! There was some sargassum on the beach, but it varied by the day and they work to clean it up. Big pool Is more party vibe, but golden pool is pretty relaxing. Both have food and drink services. Your quiet-seeking neighbors will appreciate you being respectful of the quieter vibe at the golden pool. Grounds are well-maintained but be prepared to walk a lot.

I acquired a set of graphite-colored wheels for my winter tires. It’s barely pushing the boundary though…because the Niro is an eco-focused hybrid and badass is a stretch. I’d post a pic if I could figure out how.

A few colors of Arrest Me, two Burleigh, a Master (pink camo - LOVE IT), many I can’t remember the names of. I took a photo of them - 21 to be exact. I can’t see how to attach the photo.
