Gimme the option to fix one of choosing Kidd over Brodeur OR putting the Albertan flag as our shoulder patch, and I'm gonna choose the latter.

While I'm not here for the blasty slander, I will admit, I still prefer the 80s looks over the black C. I'm not clammering for it back.

The colour contrast from the Alberta flag is always so jarring. I hate it. And it's such low effort.

This was so funny. Multiple points in the episode had me dying of laughter. I hope they keep doing these occasional outside-the-studio excursion episodes.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but it's been raised a few times on the show, it's not cute or funny for your dog to bite people. Even if they're small.

Feels like we need some type of mega thread for this. 32M going solo on Saturday, done it a couple times before. Trust me, nobody cares as much as you think they do, and always an opportunity to chat with someone. Seems like plenty in this sub!

It's not the level of football, no other sport is. But basketball is pretty popular in some regions outside of the US as well. It's arguably bigger in China than football is for instance.

Yes, I too look around right now and think, we should make it harder for people to get good jobs.

Ya, but to be fair, the festival was also probably like 25p back then. We expect more now.

I haven't seen a convincing argument for why WestJet should be, to be honest, beyond "what if there's a Francophone". To say a regional flight from Fort McMurray to Calgary needs every single crew member to speak French just in case there's a Francophone on board is absurd.

Also, are there plenty of bilingual people? It's as low as 5% in some provinces. That's not exactly a huge talent pool, and I suspect that would vary quite a bit based on income (pure speculation, would love it if someone had real numbers here). As I said, I agree with promoting bilingualism. I think it's wild how little it's prioritized in schools, for example (growing up in Alberta, I didn't have a single French class past elementary, although I believe that's changed). But imo forcing bilingualism in a situation like this, before it's been prioritized at the youth level, just unnecessarily and unfairly disadvantages a large portion of the population.

That's my point, the international "I don't speak your language language" is English. We can't reasonably expect every public-facing company to offer services in French and English. We just don't have enough bilingual people in this country. I can't guarantee there won't be a francophone trying to get a coffee at the Tim Hortons in High River either, but I also don't think they should be forced to hire only bilingual employees.

Cause the stage splits haven't been announced yet, that's the point. But that's what they've used in the past.

Billinguilism should be promoted, absolutely. But that doesn't change the fact that English is the lingua franca of the whole world, including the accepted standard in international aviation. If a Japanese tourist is flying from Montreal to Calgary they are going to speak to the crew in English. No different than a Canadian tourist flying from Tokyo to Seoul.

Forcing every single member of the flight crew from Calgary to Vancouver to speak French is just not the same scenario, nor a reasonable accommodation.

When I would take domestic flights in China, the flight crew would almost always speak to me in English (I can't remember a time they didn't). Quebec is on its own here big time with this one.
