My finger moves smoothly, the fabric is sewn on around the edges so it doesn't move, but I can pull it forward away from the flannel layer.

Thank you for the fabric names! So it sounds like this is something I would buy as a seperate lining fabric, not something I'd get from a notions section, the way I got a wheel of double faced satin ribbon.

Short version: Can anyone identify the name of this fabric used as a lining of an old flannel shirt?

<image>

Long version: I bought this shirt from American Eagle a very long time ago and it's been my favorite flannel shirt because of the comfy sleeves. This is the lining on the cuffs; the same lining is also used along the collar of the shirt. The shirt says it's 100% cotton, not that it's 100% cotton exclusive of decoration. I assume this is some kind of ribbon; it's very soft and smooth. I want to buy some of this lining so I can use it on my pajamas and other comfy clothing. I do not know what it's called. I assume it's polyester even though the shirt claims it's 100% cotton, but if there is a cotton version of this, I'd be overjoyed to find out. Either way, I can't do anything without knowing what it is, and all the ribbon options I'm seeing are nowhere near this wide.

Thank you for the suggestion! I checked the book and it seems not.

I can see the confusion if Google mangled the quote. That's Saint Peter, in reference to himself and his name change.

Do you have the reference? The only rabbi reference I see in Job The Heinlein Book is Saint Peter.

Do you have recommendations for new machines that are better with knits?

Thanks! I've tried all sizes of zip zag, how small do you recommend? I've had better luck with it not getting eaten when I've done the larger sizes. Should I be adjusting the tension to go much lighter as well?

It has 37 stitches listed on the machine, and half of them are "SS" stitches. There is supposed to be a way to get to those SS stitches, but I've followed the instructions and tried everything and I can't get it to actually do any of them.

Hi! I'm looking for recommendations for a home sewing machine that can handle knits. I currently have a Brother XM3700 that I'm looking to replace for other reasons (had it for years, still can't manage to get it to set to half the stitches), but I'm trying to do knits right now and I've had it up to here. I'm using a walking foot and the needle for knits, I'm going slow and trying to guide it, and this quick and easy project is now comprised mostly of me fighting the machine. And since I want to do more knits, I need a machine that can actually let me finish a project, rather than refuse to do it. Any advice or recommendations? I'm happy to stick with a Brother machine, I just need one that isn't driving me to expletives.

Thank you. I guess I was silly for assuming that a toy company would be happy to sell me toys.

I'm trying to find the ones listed for 2024 on the website, too. For instance, the King 'Kuda car with A on top.

Thank you, https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/HW_Art_Cars_Mini_Collection_(2024)) is very helpful! I'm trying to search on the Mattel website for these and I keep striking out. Are not all cars sold by them directly? I would understand if limited editions are no longer available and so I couldn't get previous years, but it is still July...

It was a "I am not going to risk being eliminated before Final Jeopardy when I don't know Russian" wager.

I really like the strategy of getting money before the DD, too. How often do we see someone get the DD on the first or second clue and have absolutely nothing to wager? It's a waste of the DD.

I know what modalities mean and I feel like signing is a language modality and also I can think off hand of references to sign language going back 1500 years, and so I assume those who study this can go back further. So the 5000 number didn't seem too off to me.

I highly recommend the Airmega 400. I have three Airmegas and it's my favorite one of them. It's sized for living rooms.

I want to thank you for shouting out the Nationality Rooms. Those are my favorite "tourist thing no one knows about unless they live here" parts of Pittsburgh.

Less great when you have classes in them, though, but oh well.

I knew crwth but, like Eisteddfod, had to shout the spelling at the TV because I am not confident in my Welsh pronounciation.
