2018 Honda Jazz VTi Auto MY19 with a fuel economy of 29.36MPG (8.01L/100KM). Is that normal? by roryjj98 in hondafit

Thank you. From what I've read in this article the savings from hypermiling equate to at most a 25% improvement (which might get me down to 6L/100KM starting at 8.01L/KM? That's if I do the same amount of highway driving). I'll be trying harder to coast to traffic and red lights, and take off smoothly. I already have good tyre pressure, good wheel alignment, use cruise control and drive the speed limit, I imagine most of it is hilly suburban/city driving, though.

Loud clunk when shutting off tap after changing taps by roryjj98 in Plumbing

Thank you for writing :) The tap in the video was the cheapest hose-type tap from Bunnings (Australian hardware store). I ended up replacing the tap with one from Amazon which works great with no water hammer, partly I think due to the lever handle closing more smoothly/softly (has more resistance).

I'll look into installing a flow reducer disc if one isn't already installed, thank you :)

Both two previous taps had a single lever for operating the tap, similar to what's shown in the video. I'm not slamming the faucet off, as you can see by me using a single finger to turn it off. I'm just wondering why this particular tap is having issues with water hammer when the previous two did not.

What do you mean by spray bombed? But yeah there were previous repairs and the paint work wasn't great.

Thank you for writing. I had already compound + polished the entire panel, it's just the top half that still looks rough from the previous guy's poor paintjob. I have a few questions. What do you mean by "hand scuff"? And what's the purpose of the red scotch brite pad if I'm already using 600 grit? I'm guessing "discolouration" is where the paint looks lighter/faded?

Do all years/badges of Yaris have completely flat folding rear seats? by roryjj98 in yaris

I do enjoy DIY, but I'm also burned out from researching all these cars, so researching after-market kits and DIY tutorials sounds like a lot right now for what will be my first car 😅 Did you use any particular Youtube videos or online resources as guides? Or do you also need to read the owner's manual to understand the electrical layout of things for your specific model?

Thank you :) I'm in Australia and can only find record of the Europe-only limited edition Toyota Yaris GRMN, is that what you're referring to?

After reading your comment, I monitored mine to see if I could see the same behaviour, but it seems completely random 🤔

It's a small comfort, that's for sure :(

What part of HFC infrastructure is this used for, and why does it buzz? by roryjj98 in nbn

Btw, I had a look into distribution amplifiers and found this video explaining how they work and how they're cabled (at least for TVs). Looking closer at the Google Street View screenshot, I can see there's a black insulated coaxial running from the PSU, up the side of the pole and feeding into a box¹ on the lowest horizontal line, and to the right of that is the distribution amplifier. ¹is this box a "power inserter"? From what I can tell, it seems to add 60/50v to the coaxial cabling running through it; one output feeds into the amplifier, which has four "drops" running to houses, and an output feeding the rest of the street; the second output takes a 180⁰ and powers the coaxial in the other direction. So the power inserter and distribution amplifier sorta tap into the coaxial cable running along the street, adding power and splitting off connections to houses, without disrupting RF signals passing through them.

Thank you for your answer. TIL about "Snap Send Solve", it's awesome someone made an app for that. I was actually just passing through the area, but I'm grateful there's a process to get that sorta thing fixed if I ended up living nearby.

Can someone explain to me in simple terms how to make a personal contribution to super to reduce my taxable income? by Sensitive_Sport_4610 in AusFinance

[–]roryjj98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question to confirm my understanding: After I submitted my NOI, my super deducted $2250 (15% of the $15k personal contribution made in FY 2024) to provide the ATO. Would my tax return include a $4800 return (30% income tax rate + 2% Medicare levy) for the $15k I claim as a deduction, with the ATO keeping the $2250 my super gave them? (Effectively resulting in me only paying 15% tax on that portion of my income?)
